Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Is it Tuesday? Because it sure feels like a Monday.
You know how a long holiday weekend is supposed to be relaxing and wonderful, but then Tuesday rolls around and your brain spends half the day trying to figure out what day it actually is?
Yeah. That.
I’m pretty sure Tuesday is just Monday wearing a clever disguise this week. 😆
Otherwise, things are surprisingly quiet around these here parts. No hubby gigs this past weekend, and none coming up this weekend either. Our next one isn’t until the weekend after next, which feels downright strange after having several gigs sprinkled throughout the summer.
But after that? The calendar starts filling up again!
We’ll have gig weekends for several weekends in a row, taking us right through Oktoberfest the first weekend of October—and I’m looking forward to all of them. Good music, good friends, hopefully some good food and adult beverages along the way… bring it on!
For now, though, I’m enjoying the little intermission.
Mother Nature also seems to have finally gotten most of her hot flashes out of her system. We have one more day in the mid-80s this week, but beyond that, I’m seeing those glorious 70-something-degree temperatures I’ve been waiting for.
SEVENTIES, people!
Now we’re talking.
I’m not saying I’m ready to declare victory and officially pack summer away, because Mother Nature has fooled me before. She’s probably lurking around a corner somewhere thinking, “Oh, you think you’re done with the 90s? That’s adorable.”
So I’m keeping one suspicious eye on her.
But September temperatures in the 70s? Pumpkin spice creamer in my refrigerator? Football season underway?
My fall-loving little heart is happy.
Meanwhile, I’m happy to report that I’m still surviving having the hubby home and underfoot for his summer break.
Two more weeks!
Not that I’m counting.
Okay, I’m totally counting. 😂
He has gotten some things accomplished around here, so I can’t give him too much grief. But isn’t it funny how our brains work when a big chunk of time off is approaching?
Before the break, your brain is ridiculously optimistic:
“I’ll get THAT done… and THAT… and oh! I’ve been meaning to do THAT! And while I’m at it, I could probably tackle THAT project, reorganize THAT area, move THOSE boxes, fix THAT thing…”
Suddenly you’ve mentally scheduled approximately six months’ worth of projects into a few weeks.
Then the time off actually arrives.
And Reality walks in, puts its feet up, and says:
“Nah, man. Relaaaaaax.” 😆
Apparently there’s some sort of mathematical formula where the amount of stuff you think you’ll accomplish during time off is inversely proportional to the amount of time you actually have available.
Still, progress is progress. Things are getting done, and so far we’re both surviving this whole hubby-home-while-I’m-trying-to-work experiment quite nicely.
I haven’t even had to invent an elaborate errand or send him on a wild goose chase just to get him out of the house for a few hours.
Yet.
We still have two weeks to go. 😂
Although now that I think about it… surely there’s something we desperately need from a store at least 45 minutes away.
I’ll keep that one in my back pocket.
Honestly, though, I’m perfectly content with a quiet week. We’ve got plenty coming up on the calendar, the weather is finally moving in the right direction, football season is here, fall is getting closer by the minute, and there’s something rather lovely about not having anything particularly dramatic to report.
Of course, I’ve probably just jinxed myself by putting that in writing.
So while I go knock on every piece of wood I can find in this nearly 100-year-old house, let’s move on to this week’s collection of random funnies and see what made me laugh!
