Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Can someone explain how we’ve already reached the FINAL Tuesday of September?!
Seriously. Didn’t September just start?
And while we’re discussing my apparently complete inability to keep track of the passage of time, I realized I totally spaced on mentioning something rather important last Tuesday:
IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF FALL! 🍂🍁🎃
How on earth did I, the person who has spent approximately the entire summer begging fall to hurry up and get here, manage to let the actual first day of fall pass without properly celebrating it?!
Clearly, working through the previous weekend fried more brain cells than I realized. 😆
But it’s officially here now, people! My favorite season! Bring on the crisp mornings, colorful leaves, pumpkin spice everything, cozy sweaters, football, and all the glorious fall things I’ve been impatiently waiting for.
Apparently Mother Nature heard “fall has arrived” and decided she’d make the transition abundantly clear.
Friday was WILD.
We had high winds, thunderstorms, and buckets of rain pretty much all day. And because no Pacific Northwest windstorm would be complete without it…
The power went out.
Because of course it did.
Thankfully, we were prepared! I have a portable power station that had enough juice to fire up my computer down in the basement, and the hubby has a bigger one that we hooked up to the internet equipment.
Look at us being all resourceful and stuff!
For a while there, I was actually able to keep working like nothing had happened. Well… sort of.
I could work on things I already had on my computer, but downloading and uploading documents through email wasn’t happening, so some projects had to sit there patiently waiting for electricity to rejoin the party.
Eventually the power came back on, but it was touch-and-go a few times after that, and the internet spent the entire day playing its own delightful game of:
I’m here!
Nope, I’m gone!
Just kidding, I’m back!
Annnnd gone again.
It made for an exceptionally long Friday when I was just trying to GET. THINGS. DONE.
But we survived, the house stayed standing, the power eventually stabilized, and all the doggos probably have a few complaints they’d like to submit to Mother Nature regarding the thunder portion of the day’s festivities.
And speaking of long days…
Today should be interesting.
By the time you’re reading this, I’ll have started my Tuesday bright and early with an 8:00 a.m. appointment at the Cadillac dealership, which happens to be about an hour away.
And the timing is particularly appropriate because my Caddy and I are coming up on our one-year anniversary! I bought her on October 3rd last year, which means we’ve almost officially made it through our first year together.
Apparently, she decided the traditional first-anniversary gift should be…
a check engine light.
How thoughtful. 😂
I was thinking maybe flowers. Or chocolate. Or perhaps she could’ve celebrated by simply continuing to run beautifully without lighting up any ominous little dashboard symbols.
But nooooo.
My Caddy is due for her 60,000-mile spark plug change, so that part of the visit is routine.
The little check-engine light currently glowing on my dashboard?
Not so much.
According to the app, my car is unhappy about something involving the Evaporative Emissions System. Apparently, one of the most common causes for that particular warning is a loose gas cap.
Easy fix, right?
Except…
My Cadillac doesn’t HAVE a gas cap.
It’s one of those capless systems, so we can cross “Stacy forgot to tighten the gas cap” off the list of possibilities.
From the research I’ve done, there are several other things that can trigger the warning, including a leak somewhere in the system or a pump deciding it’s no longer interested in doing whatever pumps are supposed to do.
The good news—and I’m knocking vigorously on wood as I type this—is that there’s a very good chance whatever is causing the problem will be covered under warranty. There are a couple of different emissions warranties that may apply, and I’m comfortably within the mileage and time limits.
So everybody, cross your fingers for me that the diagnosis is:
“Yep, we found the problem, and the warranty is paying for it.”
Those are magical words I would very much like to hear.
Because really, the best first-anniversary gift my Cadillac could give me is a repair bill that says:
$0.00.
Because apparently one appointment wasn’t enough excitement for Tuesday, I also have a dentist appointment while I’m over there.
But this isn’t just any old dentist appointment.
I’m finally getting my crown! 👑
Yes, after months of waiting, apparently today is also my coronation day.
I always suspected I was royalty. It’s nice to finally have the dental work to prove it. 😂
This particular saga has been going on MUCH longer than originally planned. They had to remove my existing permanent crown so I could have gum surgery around that tooth.
The plan was to replace it with a temporary, do the surgery, put the temporary back on while everything healed, then have me return for new molds and, eventually, a shiny new permanent crown.
Simple enough, right?
Except apparently my temporary crown decided it would like to become a long-term resident.
I’ve been wearing that sucker considerably longer than planned, thanks in part to the dental office having an unfortunate habit of canceling appointments on me. One cancellation came when I was already HALFWAY THERE—and remember, they’re an hour away.
Let’s just say I was not feeling particularly royal that day. 😑
But barring any last-minute shenanigans (or cancelations), today should FINALLY be the day I get the permanent crown and officially close this chapter.
Her Royal Highness is ready for her coronation.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this particular crown comes with jewels, a castle, servants, or the authority to declare Tuesday a national holiday, which seems like a bit of a rip-off considering what dental crowns cost.
Luckily, my dentist is less than a mile from the Cadillac dealership. If the Cadillac people haven’t figured out what’s going on with my car by the time I need to leave, they told me they have a Lyft arrangement for customers within a 10-mile radius.
So theoretically, they can chauffeur Her Royal Highness over to collect her crown and bring her back.
Which sounds great.
The bigger mystery is what happens if I return from the dentist and my car is still sitting somewhere in the bowels of the service department with people staring thoughtfully at it.
How long will I be cooling my heels at the dealership?
Will they fix it quickly?
Will they need to keep it?
If so, will they give me a loaner?
Stay tuned for next week’s exciting installment of:
Where in the World Is My Cadillac? 😆
Hopefully, everything goes smoothly, the warranty gods smile upon me, the coronation actually takes place, and I’m home at a reasonable hour wondering why I spent so much time worrying about any of it.
And now for the Seahawks update….
Well, crap.
My boys lost by TWO FREAKIN’ POINTS.
TWO.
Final score: 33–31.
So close… and yet so incredibly aggravating.
And unfortunately, we really can’t blame anyone but ourselves. Apparently, we decided it would be sporting to keep passing the ball to the other team, who then took those lovely little gifts and turned them into scoring opportunities.
You know, guys, I’m certainly no football coach, but I’m pretty sure the general idea is to throw the ball to the players wearing the same uniform you are.
Maybe we could try that next week?
On the bright side, they kept fighting and made it a two-point game, but this one definitely falls into the “Well, THAT was frustrating” category.
Clearly, I’ve procrastinated long enough on adding rhinestones to my Seahawks jean jacket. My sparkly-star sweatshirt can only do so much.
Apparently, the problem is obvious.
The team needs more bling.
‘ll accept partial responsibility and get right on that.
So there you have it: September is somehow almost over, fall finally received the acknowledgment it deserved, Mother Nature welcomed the season by throwing an impressive tantrum, portable power stations saved my workday, my Cadillac chose a check-engine light as our first-anniversary gift, the Seahawks broke my heart by two lousy points, and I’m spending Tuesday bouncing between Cadillac service and dental care.
You know…
Just another perfectly normal week around here. 😆
Now, while I hopefully sit somewhere with a freshly maintained Cadillac, my long-awaited crown firmly in place, and considerably less money leaving my bank account than I’m currently imagining, let’s move on to this week’s collection of random funnies and see what managed to make me laugh!

I should add that today was pedicure day. I have orange toenails with sparkles. Fallish, right? I usually don’t go all Fall stuff. This year I might, for the sake of it all. After my morning motivational post, I got busy doing my day. My mood improved. It’s not in my post, so I thought I would add it in a comment to you, Stacey!
P.S. love your Caddy… can’t wait to hear more details next week
Also,, for some reason, I want to add an e to your name…please forgive me
It sounds like you’ve had quite the adventurous week, like mine. Yes, when things calm down will be when I’m probably over 100, if I make it that long.
Meanwhile, thanks so much for the funnies and I’m praying you are home now with a car well fixed and a crown to boot, with no bill.
