Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps!
Well, friends, it finally happened.
After several weeks of having the hubby home for his summer break, he officially went back to work yesterday.
I survived! 😂
Of course, there’s one part of his summer break I’m definitely going to miss: those later alarm mornings.
You get spoiled surprisingly quickly when you don’t have to wake up at some ridiculous hour of the morning. Now we’re back to the extra-early alarms, and my internal clock is going to need a minute to adjust.
Or several minutes.
Possibly accompanied by coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. ☕
But now we need to address the burning question I’m sure has been keeping everyone awake at night:
Did the hubby move more boxes into the drybox before his break ended?
Hell no. 😆
Remember all those ambitious plans at the beginning of summer break? The boxes were going to be moved “with a vengeance.” The house was going to magically grow larger. The Drybox Chronicles were finally going to have some ACTION!
Yeah… about that.
The boxes are still here.
To be fair, he did move some boxes out there, so he did make a dent in the pile’o’boxes in the dining room, so we definitely need to give him credit for that.
And honestly? I’m not even giving him grief about it because he got a LOT of other things accomplished around the house during his break, including tackling something that desperately needed attention: the garage.
He even bought himself a couple of spiffy new toolboxes and rounded up all of his wayward tools that had apparently been wandering freely throughout the garage.
You know how tools do.
“I’ll just set this here for now.”
And then “for now” becomes six months and suddenly nobody knows where anything is.
But now the tools have homes! The garage is mostly cleaned and organized! Things can actually be FOUND!
I’m calling that a major win.
The boxes aren’t going anywhere. We’ll get to them eventually.
Probably.
And since we’ve heard precisely NOTHING from the city about the drybox, I’m continuing with my current philosophy:
No news is good news.
Moving right along… remember last week’s Great Soda Watch?
I am delighted to report:
CRISIS AVERTED.
The hubby’s gig Saturday night was at one of my favorite venues, and not only did they have regular soda this time, but they apparently had enough to last the entire evening!
All was right with the world.
And it’s a good thing, too, because the gig ended up being considerably longer than originally planned. The band was initially scheduled to play from 7–9, but there was a wedding party there that really wanted them to play, so the venue extended the gig to 6–10 instead!
Four hours!
Apparently the wedding party knew good music when they heard it. 😆
It made for a longer evening than expected, but we had a great time. Good music, good friends, a fun crowd, and—most importantly—a reliable supply of fully sugared, artificial-sweetener-free carbonated beverages.
What more could a girl ask for?
Well…
Maybe a couple of days off.
Because despite spending Saturday evening enjoying the gig, I did indeed end up working through the weekend.
GASP.
I know.
Weekend work is practically forbidden around here because I’m a firm believer in maintaining some semblance of work/life balance—especially when you work from home and your office is always lurking downstairs, whispering:
“You could just answer one more email…”
No, Office. No.
Boundaries.
But this weekend was one of those rare exceptions. I had work to get done for two of my favorite nonprofit clients, and sometimes deadlines don’t particularly care what day of the week it is.
Thankfully, working through the weekend is a once-in-a-blue-moon situation for me, so I don’t mind doing it when it’s genuinely necessary.
And despite all that work, I did manage to squeeze in a little fun on Sunday because…
THE SEAHAWKS WON! 💙💚
Yep, my boys took care of business, which means all that Seahawks bling I’ve been accumulating is clearly working.
You’re welcome, Seahawks fans. 😂
I’m pretty sure my sparkly-star sweatshirt deserves at least some of the credit. And just imagine what will happen once I finally add rhinestones to that jean jacket!
Apparently I can’t procrastinate on that project much longer.
The team needs me. 😆
So despite spending entirely too much of my weekend working, I managed to squeeze in a fun gig Saturday night—with REGULAR SODA!—and a Seahawks victory on Sunday.
That’s what I call work/life balance.
Sort of.
That said…
I’m tired.
My brain is tired.
My computer and I have spent entirely too much quality time together.
And I could definitely use a couple of days off sometime in the very near future.
Preferably days involving absolutely no alarms, no video editing, no meetings, no deadlines, and nobody saying, “Hey, while you’re at your computer…”
Maybe a pumpkin spice latte.
Maybe a nap.
Okay, definitely a nap. 😆
So there you have it: the hubby has officially returned to work, the boxes have successfully avoided relocation, the garage has undergone a much-needed transformation, The Great Soda Watch ended victoriously, the Seahawks won, and I survived my rare working weekend.
I’d say we’ve earned ourselves a slightly quieter week.
Of course, every time I say something like that, the universe seems to take it as a personal challenge…
Now, let’s move on to this week’s collection of random funnies and see what managed to make me laugh!

I’m glad the garage is organized, I hope they let you leave the drybox where it is so you can get boxes into it faster, and thanks for the laughs!
Hey Stacey!
A quick hello. I enjoyed reading about your weekend adventures plus vacation with the hubby. So fortunate to meet you here on Random Thoughts Tuesday!
