The Drybox Chronicles: The Plan Comes Together; Car Show FOMO; More Mother Nature Hot Flashes & Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Well, it appears Mother Nature is gearing up for yet another one of her infamous menopausal hot flashes this week. Just when we settle into those beautiful Pacific Northwest summer temperatures that make life feel just about perfect, she decides to crank the thermostat back up again.

Thankfully, we’re not looking at anything too outrageous, but I have to admit… I’m already counting down the days until fall arrives. Then again, fall is my favorite season. Give me crisp mornings, colorful leaves, cozy sweaters, pumpkin-flavored everything, and I’ll be one happy camper. Summer, you’ve had your fun. It’s autumn’s turn now.

As for The Drybox Chronicles, we’re still in a bit of a holding pattern—but for once, it feels like we’re actually getting somewhere! The hubby has been hard at work putting together the site plan the city requires before they’ll officially approve our drybox placement. He’s almost finished with it, which means we can finally start seeing the light at the end of this very bureaucratic tunnel.

Even better, I think we’ve officially cracked the code on how we’re going to move everything when the time comes. Since the drybox is already partially full, we’re planning to rent a truck for a couple of days, back that sucker right up to the drybox, transfer all the boxes into the truck, rotate the drybox into its final resting place, and then move everything back in.

Is it a little extra? Absolutely. Is it more work than we’d hoped? Definitely. But I have to say… I love having a plan. Once the logistics are figured out, everything suddenly feels a whole lot more manageable.

The hubby also had another gig over the weekend—this one at a car show. The weather couldn’t have been much better, but I decided to sit this one out. It was held in a field I’d never been to before, and since I didn’t know anyone there, I wasn’t convinced I’d have much fun wandering around by myself. Sometimes staying home just sounds more appealing.

It may not be the dramatic “before and after” transformation I had pictured in my head, but every box sorted, every shelf organized, and every load hauled away is still progress. Sometimes you just have to celebrate the small victories while waiting for the big ones.

The hubby had a gig over the weekend, but this time I decided to sit it out. It was a private party at a private residence full of people I didn’t know in the slightest, and honestly… that’s just not my jam. 😄 He had a great time playing, though, and that’s what matters. Sometimes it’s nice for him to do his thing while I enjoy a quiet evening at home.

Of course… the minute he got home and started showing me pictures, I found myself thinking, “Well… maybe I should have gone after all.” 😄 It looked like a fantastic event with some really cool cars, great weather, and a fun crowd. Consider that lesson learned! If the band gets invited back next year, I’ll definitely be tagging along.

Thankfully, they’ve got plenty more gigs lined up over the next few weeks, so I won’t have to wait long for another opportunity to enjoy an evening of good music.

I’m praying it all goes well with the DryBox and you get everything organized soon.
