Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Somehow we’ve already reached the last Tuesday of the month, and I’m left wondering where on earth the time went. Wasn’t it just New Year’s a couple of weeks ago?
At the rate this year is flying by, it’ll be fall before we know it… and honestly, I’m perfectly okay with that! 🍂 You all know it’s my favorite season, so every page we turn on the calendar gets us one step closer to crisp mornings, colorful leaves, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin everything.
But before we get there, Mother Nature apparently had one more hot flash she’d like us to experience. Earlier in the week, she cranked the thermostat up to “Are we sure this is the Pacific Northwest?” before doing a complete 180 and treating us to a day of wild thunderstorms.
Now, thunderstorms aren’t exactly a common occurrence around here, so they definitely got everyone’s attention. Personally, though, neither the hubby nor I minded one bit. When we lived in Pennsylvania, we’d sit outside and watch those storms roll in, so this week’s weather felt oddly nostalgic.
Of course, with thunderstorms came the inevitable power flickers and internet hiccups, because apparently Mother Nature likes to keep things interesting. Since I rely on both of those to work from home, it was… less than ideal.
Thankfully, everything came back eventually, but the doggos would like to file a formal complaint. They were not impressed with all the booming and crashing going on outside. Let’s just say there were a few furry shadows following me around the house, all trying to cram themselves under my desk until the skies finally settled down.
The hubby had another gig over the weekend, this time at the annual “Oregon Trail Days.” Apparently it’s kind of a big deal—thousands of people attend every year. Since we’d never been before and I had absolutely no idea what to expect—or even what the layout looked like—I decided to sit this one out.
Sometimes staying home is simply the better choice, especially when your introverted side is quietly whispering, “You know… Netflix and chill might be a good call.” Besides, I had some work to catch up on (see: power and internet issues from earlier in the week), so staying home turned out to be a productive choice. It definitely beat starting this week already playing catch-up!
As it turns out, my inner introvert made the right call! The hubby had a fantastic time playing, was home before dinner, and brought back plenty of stories. Apparently the event drew an enormous crowd—he described it as a sea of people. While I’m glad the band had such a great audience, hearing that pretty much confirmed I would’ve spent the day searching for the least crowded corner I could find. Maybe next year… or maybe not! 😉
As for The Drybox Chronicles, there isn’t a whole lot of exciting news this week—but that’s actually progress in itself. The hubby officially finished the site proposal, submitted it to the city, paid the required fee, and now… we wait. We’ve officially entered the “hurry up and wait” phase while the powers that be decide the fate of our drybox’s final resting place. Fingers crossed that the next chapter in this saga involves actual movement instead of paperwork!
