The Drybox Chronicles; Christmas Countdown; Delightful Weather & Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July! Going into the weekend, I was fully expecting Saturday night to sound like a full-scale war zone. Thankfully, it ended up being much mellower than I anticipated. There were still plenty of fireworks lighting up the sky, and we had a fantastic view of them from our deck, but it wasn’t nearly as all-encompassing as last year.

Of course… there’s always the possibility that my new hearing aids are simply doing an excellent job of turning the volume down on the chaos. If that’s the case, I wholeheartedly approve! 😄

The weather this week is shaping up to be exactly why people fall in love with Pacific Northwest summers. Once Mother Nature finished reminding us on Monday that she’s still the boss by flirting with 90 degrees, she decided to calm down and return us to our regularly scheduled programming.

The forecast for the rest of the week? Sunshine, blue skies, and highs in the upper 70s. Now that’s the kind of weather I can get behind. Windows open, fresh air flowing through the house, and no complaints from me.

As for the continuing Adventures of the Drybox… we’re still in a holding pattern. The hubby has been hard at work creating the site plan that our tiny town now requires before they’ll officially bless the drybox that’s already sitting on our property. He’s also been talking with a few people about the logistics of rotating the whole thing 90 degrees so it meets the required distance between structures.

Apparently, moving a giant metal box isn’t as simple as saying, “Could you scoot that over a little?” Who knew?

The part I’m looking forward to the least? Once we finally have a date set, we’ll have to empty everything out of the drybox, rotate it, and then put every single box back inside. I know… I had the same reaction. 😅

I’ll admit, I’m a little disappointed that everything has stalled. In my head, I had already fast-forwarded to the part where the rest of the boxes were out of the house, things were organized, and I was happily settling into my new upstairs office. I’ve been dreaming about moving my workspace from the dark basement into the light, where I can actually enjoy some sunshine while I work.

I have a feeling it will do wonders for my mental health—and maybe even my productivity. (Okay… definitely my mental health.) One step at a time, I suppose. Even if those steps involve paperwork, site plans, and rotating giant metal boxes.

But wait! I forgot I was going to give you a little reminder two weeks ago about this:

  1. 70’s would be oh so nice! We have been in the low 90’s recently. It doesn’t cool down much during the night, either. Our dewpoint has consistently been over 100. Loved your funnies! Lynch fourth graders is pretty funny!

  2. Heeheehee! Smart sister!

Really, your funnies are the best. I pray you get the drybox dilemma solved quickly and have a summer of great temps.
