Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Around here, Mother Nature decided she was feeling a little dramatic and treated us to rain, thunderstorms, and enough gray skies to make us wonder if she’d misplaced the calendar and thought it was still March. 🌧️⛈️
One minute we were enjoying pleasant spring weather, and the next it sounded like a bowling tournament was taking place on the roof.
Now, in true Pacific Northwest fashion, the forecast has apparently decided to overcorrect. After a soggy weekend, it looks like the heat of summer plans to arrive a little early later this week.
I’m not entirely sure I’m ready to jump from thunderstorms to hot summer temps that we sometimes see in August, not June, in the span of a few days, but apparently nobody consulted me. 😄
I suppose it’s time to dust off the lawn chairs, stock up on iced tea, and pretend we’re all going to be productive in the sunshine.
Speaking of roofs… let’s talk about why my family would now like to ban them officially.
My brother took a 10-foot fall off his roof on Thursday while attempting to install some sort of Wi-Fi extender. Apparently, improving the internet signal seemed like a perfectly reasonable project at the time. Unfortunately, gravity had other ideas.
The fall resulted in eight broken ribs, a broken shoulder, and a punctured lung, earning him an unexpected trip to the ICU Thursday night. 😱
Thankfully, surgery on Friday morning to repair the ribs was a success, and he’s now held together with several metal plates and enough screws to make him at least partially bionic. 😬 The road ahead will include plenty of physical therapy and recovery time, but considering how badly things could have gone, we’re incredibly grateful and counting our blessings!
Needless to say, it was a stressful few days for everyone, most of all for my sister-in-law. She has since issued what may be the smartest family decree ever: “No more roofs for anyone!”
Honestly, I think we can all agree that’s a solid rule. At the very least, if someone feels the urge to climb onto a roof, there should probably be paperwork involved first. 😉
Now, before I start drafting a family-wide ban on ladders, rooftops, and any project that begins with “this should only take a minute,” let’s move on to this week’s random funnies! This is hilarious:

That cat in the yoga pants is the best thing I have seen in a long time!
Those storms, the nerve! I hope your heat levels down to normal for the rest of the summer.
Thanks for the funnies, I’m not sure the cat is enjoying the yoga pants at all.
Despite everything your brother endured, he’s very fortunate. Working on the roof is dangerous, no matter what you do. I pray PT and recovery goes well. This is going to feel like the longest summer ever for him. Poor fella!
