Boxes, Mud and Mount St. Helens Memories with Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Ours was surprisingly low-key for the first time in what feels like forever. No gigs, no running around, no packed schedule… honestly, it felt a little weird. 😄

The rain decided to show up right when we had ambitious plans to continue moving piles’o’boxes out to the drybox in the backyard, so instead we mostly just stared at the boxes and discussed all the things we were totally going to accomplish. I’m counting that as partial productivity.

Thankfully, the sun is finally making a comeback this week, which means motivation should return right along with it. Funny how a little sunshine suddenly convinces you that reorganizing your entire life sounds doable. We’ve officially entered the “purging and reorganizing” phase around here, and while it’s a lot of work, it already feels good seeing some of the clutter disappear.

Of course, I fully expect at least one point this week where I open a random box and wonder why on earth we kept half this stuff in the first place. 😉

Yesterday marked the 46th anniversary of the major eruption of Mount St. Helens, which still feels incredible to think about all these years later. My sister and I actually drove up to the mountain about a month or so after the eruption, and I still remember how surreal it all looked.

The total destruction was hard to wrap your head around, but what really stuck with me was the deep, solidified mud everywhere—with A-frame houses and cars partially encased in it like something frozen in time. It honestly looked like another planet. It’s one thing to see photos on TV, but seeing that kind of devastation in person is something you never forget.
