do the Math and Stay Love, it was a Tough Town when We Were Only Young

Hello, my favorite Monday peeps! Today is 4/20 (nudge nudge wink wink), and it’s Maxwell Smart’s 6th birthday!

He was six months old in that picture – he’s doubled in size and definitely no longer fits on that deck table. 😅 Here he is with his brother, Ted Mosby, about three years ago, when they were freshly groomed:

Teddy’s birthday is in November, in the same year, but we got him as a rescue a year after we got Max. They are two peas in a pod! Max is a Labradoodle, and Teddy is a Goldendoodle. Such goofy boys with great personalities!

Meanwhile, since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?

Let’s start with a brand-new song from this (new to me) American-Australian pop-rock boy band that formed on the Netflix series Building the Band. The track explores the frustration of a toxic relationship using mathematical metaphors.

Give a listen to Midnight Til Morning with “Math”:

Next up is a brand-new single from a longtime favorite, which he debuted live during his sold-out Madison Square Garden show on April 16. The track marks the fifth addition to his latest EP.

It’s a soft, piano-driven plea for connection, with the artist sounding especially vulnerable. His rich, unmistakable voice sits front and center against a stripped-back arrangement that really lets the lyrics hit:

Oh just stay, love, when everybody’s leaving / C’mon stay, love, to get me through the evening / You know I pray, love, that you’ll always be the one / And when the road gets rough, don’t give up on us, and this could stay love

There’s a quiet intensity to the song that feels very true to his style—hopeful, emotional, and powerful without ever needing to be loud.

Get ready for goosebumps, here’s Lewis Capaldi with “Stay Love”:

Earlier this month, this favorite artist dropped this new music video, the song is the title track of his upcoming album (released on Saturday, April 18th, which was “Record Store Day, and this album was only available at local record stores. I’m hoping there will still be one to get when I’m near the record store on Thursday, so I can snag one. 🤞🏼

The artist (and his record label) were taking part in Record Store Day 2026 in support of independent record shops. Pretty cool, no?

Get ready to dance, here’s Bryan Adams with “Tough Town”:

Last but certainly not least, this Irish rock band returned with this new song on April 15, 2026. The song is their first new music in six years, following their 2020 album. The track is the first single off their upcoming fifth and final studio album, which is set to be released later this year, marking the last release under their current name. The frontman said:

“‘[This song]’ is a bittersweet song about looking back on better times, knowing you can’t ever go back. Like most songs I write, it comes from something real, that feeling of being part of something special, and only fully understanding it with time. In some ways, it reflects the journey we’ve been on together.”

Get ready for more goosebumps, here’s Kodaline with “We Were Only Young”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. “We Were Only Young” is nice song. I’m not familiar with Kodaline. I plan to check them out on YouTube. Thanks for the share and dance, dear Stacy. Have a boogietastic week, darlin’! xo

  2. My favorite this week was Bryan Adams. So nice to see he is supporting record stores. It makes me a little sad that so much music is streamed now. I’m not sure why it saddens me, but it could be from a childhood where I had to save up my allowance to buy an album and there was no such thing as music on demand. When you bought it, you owned it and no one could take it away from you. At least some of that still exists. Alana ramblinwitham
