Hello, my favorite Monday peeps! March has arrived – and it looks like Mother Nature thinks it’s already April, as the forecast is rain, rain, and more rain for the next 10 days. No snow for us this year! I remember we did get snow in late March, a long, long time ago, but I’m certainly not holding my breath. 😅
Meanwhile, since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week’s theme is “the early Roman began the calendar year with March because it brought the first day of spring and new beginnings. The approaching changing seasons, with the evidence of life’s return, are visible in our area and perhaps where you live, too. Pick songs that reflect the mood of sunny spring weather.” Let’s get this spring party started!
Let’s start with this favorite sunshine duet by this artist with her daughter, who was 9 years old when the song was released in February 2021, during the COVID pandemic. Since then, her daughter has joined her on stage to sing this song with her mom live – how cool is that? When the artist posted to social media about this, she said:
“Willow was 9 when we recorded this at home during lockdown.
The song made us so happy.
So we put it out, hoping it would make you happy too.
It felt like a warm, safe hug, or like finding that one bit of light when everything felt so dark. That’s what music does for me.
Watching all of your faces every night while Willow made her way to the stage to sing with me is a memory you all helped me build that I will never ever forget.
Thank you for sharing five years of sunshine with us.”
Get ready for goosebumps, here’s P!nk and Willow Sage Hart with “Cover Me In Sunshine”:
Next up is gorgeous storytelling in this 2018 country-crossover hit that recounts the springtime love feeling of butterflies. New love is always equated with the newness of spring, and this song captures the essence of a new love feeling that is delicately balanced and may not actually materialize.
Give a listen to Kacey Musgraves with “Butterflies”:
Next up is a song that delivers a message of perseverance and freedom via the imagery of the American West and relates to the artist’s upbringing in rural Louisiana. And the title alone shouts ‘spring’. 😉 The artist said about the song:
“This one definitely shows that western side, it takes me back to my childhood. It takes me back to my roots. I come from a long line of hardheaded tough people and people who have kind of blazed their own trails. I’m from five generations of farmers in northeast Louisiana, and I always compare farming to the music business.
I mean, you get up every day, do the same thing, you have good years, you have bad years, but you just keep on blazing that trail. So I think it’s just kind of digging a little deeper into my story.”
Fun fact: The song is featured prominently in a Wrangler commercial starring the artist.
Without further ado, here’s Lainey Wilson with “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”:
Last but certainly not least is a song from this favorite artist whose title says it all. The album this song is on features songs that depict the extremes of human emotion; it contrasts these extremes by emphasizing the importance of optimism, even in the most difficult times.
This message is best encapsulated by this song, which relates the changing of seasons to the hope of overcoming hardships:
We can’t let winter win, that’s why I’m holding out for spring / Oh, what a state we’re in, I’ll keep holding out for spring
Without further ado, here’s Ed Sheeran with “Spring”:
That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

It’s starting to feel like spring
Excellent playlist on every level. I love Kacey Muskgraves but I fear the similar look and sound of Ella Langley will not bode well for both careers. Laney Wilson is simply the hardest working female in Nashville right now and probably the purest entertainer of the new wave of talent in Music City. She could be the next Dolly Parton.
You brought the songs out getting us ready for the coming of spring, so now for the change in season. Yay, come on baby! Actually, our forecast for some really warm temperatures by the weekend. I talking about 80º weather. That sounds good but not because I know it’ll be too warm. I won’t complain too badly, though. It’s just been too cold to suit me this winter. Fabulous music collection, Stacy. Have a boogietastic week, darlin’! xo
