Snow Envy; National Tortilla Day; Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Here we are, the final Tuesday of February! How’d that happen so fast? Remember last week when I told you we were maybe going to get snow? You know, one percent? Well, we didn’t even get that one percent! 😅

After today’s showers, the sun will be coming out, and it’s going to be nearing 60 degrees for the rest of the 10-day forecast, so my hopes of getting at least one day of snow are dashed. Side-eye to Mother Nature, Old Man Winter, and Murphy’s Law.

Looks like my friends out east are looking at another round of snow, though – or had it over the last couple of days. Sorry about that – my wishes apparently are affecting the opposite side of the country, eh? So I’m not holding out hope, though I really, really would like to have at least one day of snow this year. Mother Nature is just not cooperating on this side of the country.

Today is Taco Tuesday, but it’s also National Tortilla Chip Day! Apparently, they were invented by Necessity: Tortilla chips were popularized in the late 1940s by Rebecca Webb Carranza. As president of the El Zarape Tortilla Factory in Los Angeles, she sought a way to use misshapen tortillas rejected by the automated manufacturing machine. She cut the rejected tortillas into triangles, fried them, and sold them for 10 cents a bag.

In 1994, Carranza received the Golden Tortilla Award for her contribution to the Mexican food industry. Pretty cool, no?
