Here we are, literally the first day of December! Whew!

This year seems to have gone by much faster than years past! Meanwhile, since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! Almost the entire month of December is dedicated to Christmas music (a tradition here at Monday’s Music Moves Me), so grab your favorite Christmas tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?

Let’s start with a song this artist penned about his favorite time of the year. He said:

“I wanted to write a song about my struggles as a traveler trying to make it home to celebrate Christmas with my family. I’m sure a lot of people can relate. Sometimes, it takes tenacious desire!”

He also released a cartoon visual to accompany the song. He said:

“An animated video gave us the perfect canvas for humor, heart, and colorful imagery to my song. . . so bring on the holidays, baby!”

Next up is a brand new song from this duo, their first new original music for 2025 (I know, it’s the end of 2025!). These guys are poised to light up the holiday season with this song, which is sure to be a future holiday classic. The track is the first new original music from them since their 2024 holiday album.

The duo’s knack for seamlessly combining genuine storytelling with exceptional vocal quality has established them not only as icons in country music but also as multi-genre powerhouses who thrive in any format.

Here’s Dan + Shay with “Long Live Christmas”:

Next, fresh from the release of his latest hit album earlier this year, this artist released this new tune, a sun-soaked festive anthem that puts a bright West Coast spin on the Christmas season. This song also brings together an all-star cast of friends from a forthcoming Holiday TV special, including, Alessia Cara, Alan Doyle, Barenaked Ladies, and The Sheepdogs.

Recorded live at Vancouver’s iconic Warehouse Studio, the single captures the warmth, joy, and musical chemistry that define the artist’s collaborations. The album is being released next week on December 8th.

Without further ado, here’s Bryan Adams (and Friends) with “California Christmas”:

Last but certainly not least is one of my favorite go-to Christmas tunes that was released in 2023. It’s like his first mega-hit returned with bells on – and this time around, his 2021 seismic hit proved even more irresistible because of its added ingredient: the holiday spirit.

The song is still completely recognizable, with the melody and rhyming cadence of the original, but all new lyrics now feature a Santa’s sleigh full of holiday references. (And yes, sleigh bells have been added to the accompaniment.) Brainstorming with the song’s original co-writers, the artist said:

“We were just all smiles writing that song. It was kind of a revisit of the day we did the original, and I just love it. It makes me so happy.”

The music video is equally inspired with the artist’s entire family — including his wife and their six kids, ages 8 to 17 at the time—all having “an absolute blast” in front of the cameras.

Of course, in writing the new version, the artist made sure there were a few nods to the original. His favorite restaurant chain does make a guest appearance: “Hopin’ Santa gonna leave an Applebee’s gift card.” And “bougie like Natty in the Styrofoam” is traded out for “bougie like blowups in the front yard.”

That line is especially dear to his heart because, years ago, he promised his three daughters and three sons that they each could have their own holiday blowup — if he ever scored a No. 1 song. “Fancy Like,” a multi-week chart-topper, allowed him to make good on his promise, and the family has since gone a bit overboard: Their front yard now proudly sports eight blowups.

The holiday version reflects the artist’s home life, perhaps even more than the original lyrics. The family loves Christmas so much that they keep their fake white-flocked tree up year-round.

“It makes me happy just sitting in the living room.”

Get ready for some fun, here’s Walker Hayes with “Fancy Like Christmas“:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. It’s Christmas time again! The year has gone by like a flash. I’m going to soak up all the ambiance of the season starting with your wonderful music selections. Have a boogietastic Christmas season, darlin’ Stacy! xo

  2. Thanks for the Christmas concert! 👏👏👏 These were all new to me, and I especially enjoyed Bryan Adams and friends doing “California Christmas”. It brought back a lot of memories! My parents moved to California in the ’70s and our first visit there was in December. We went swimming outdoors on Christmas Day – quite a novelty for Canadians used to cold weather. 😀

  3. Some famous people do or did keep the tree up all year round. I still have a real tree and, besides, it wouldn’t be special any more. I enjoyed the songs..some are quite funny
