Hello my favorite Monday peeps! Here we are, another Monday – and Monday means music! This week’s theme is “Song picks that says, Now that it’s autumn, what are you looking forward to?” Autumn (or fall, whichever’s your jam) is 100% my favorite season, so I’m psyched for this theme. 😁 Let’s get this autumn party started!

Let’s start with a Welsh alternative rock band that was formed in 1986. This song is the second single from an album released in 2007. It peaked and debuted at number 10 in the UK Singles Chart. It definitely fits the ‘autumn’ theme, if nothing else, by its title alone! 😅

Give a listen to Manic Street Preachers with “Autumnsong”:

Next, this multi-Platinum, four-time Grammy-nominated rock band has a great music video for this song. The visual depicts multiple generations of people traveling through natural landscapes and explores the dramatic yet awe-inspiring effect that time inevitably has on all life.

Bound together by music since 1986, the founding guitarist-vocalist and bassist-vocalist have recorded 12 albums under their moniker. How exactly have they managed to write new material and tour so frequently over the past three decades?

“Robbie and I grew up in very blue-collar working-class town. That same work ethic applies to whatever we do in life. We respect each other’s boundaries and we have learned over the years to get along, or ignore each other when we need to.”

Give a listen to The Goo Goo Dolls with “Autumn Leaves”:

Next up is one of my all-time favorite English artists (who’s coming to Seattle in 2026 – I’m hoping to get tickets to his show) who released this song and album back in 2023, specifically an album about autumn. Pretty cool, no? It was his seventh studio album, and this song has been described as a “de facto sequel” to his 2017 single, “Galway Girl”.

In this song, he sings about falling in love with an “English girl” in an American Town and the two getting “Chinese food in small white boxes, live a life we saw in Friends”.

Here’s the inimitable Ed Sheeran with “American Town”:

Last, but certainly not least, a song from one of my favorite artists – it fits in with the Autumn theme with autumnal lyrics:

I don’t know why all the trees change in the fall / But I know you’re not scared of anything at all / Don’t know if Snow White’s house is near or far away / But I know I had the best day with you today

It’s no secret this artist knows how to write a love song. But did you know her very best one is about her mom? The artist was quoted as saying:

“[This] is a song that I wrote without telling my mom. I wrote it in the summertime, and I recorded it secretly, too. I had this idea that I wanted to play it for her for Christmas. So when I got the track I synced up all of these home videos from when I was a little kid to go along with the song like a music video, and played it for her on Christmas Eve and she was crying her eyes out.”

The artist eventually went on to share her homemade video for the song, although the track was never released as an official single. Bonus: tons of video of this artist as an adorable baby, with some more recent photos of her and her family with her re-done version of this song. So sweet!

Without further ado, here’s the adorable Taylor Swift with “The Best Day”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  2. That Taylor Swift video made me tear up. Fantastic that she has all these home videos to remember her childhood in a loving home by and to share with her fans. The other song I really liked was Autumnsong.

  3. Manic Street Preachers are new to me. I enjoyed their song and plan to sample more of their music soon. Have a boogietastic week, Stacy darlin’! xo
