Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Can you believe we’re already halfway through June?! I keep saying I need to learn the art of not blinking… We survived the heatwave! And now we’re back to “normal” temps here in the Pacific Northwest – just how I like it! Hope all you fathers out there had a wonderful Father’s Day! As per usual, it was lowkey over here, the way the hubby likes it.
We did get dinner from our favorite BBQ joint, which was, of course, delicious. I got the hubby a new pair of cowboy boots, which he was thrilled about. He’s off this week, since his year-round school has a break in between terms, so there are no students until the 23rd. The weather is going to cooperate all week, so we snagged a storage unit, and he’s started schlepping boxes over to it.
We decided the easiest way to finally do the mega purging we’ve been nibbling away at would be to move all the stacks’o’boxes over to a storage unit, get the house organized the way we want it, then purge from the storage unit instead of having everything all crammed in here that we need to sort through. And since neither of us want to pay for the storage unit long-term, that’ll be motivation to get that sucker emptied out. 😅
But at least we’ll finally be able to get things set up the way we want them – it’s only taken, what, 7 years to get the stacks’o’boxes out of here. Well, they’re still here right now, we’ve made two trips so far, but there will be many more this week so we can figure out when we’ll be getting a dumpster again – because not every box will go in storage, some need to go straight to the dump! 😆
This upcoming weekend is Egg Days!
Sounds like there are a lot more fun things lined up—apparently, they used to have a carnival-like setup that went away the year before we moved here, so it’ll be nice to see it going back to its former glory. Don’t get me wrong – they still have vendors and fun stuff set up every year, and they block off the downtown streets (all two of them!) for the big parade that starts at 11 am.
Plus, there’s a car show and live music – and more live music at the two bars in town later that night, with street dancing at one of the bars. Well, we’ll see what Mother Nature has in store for all these outdoor activities – as it stands right now, it’s supposed to be showers all day, hopefully that will change between now and then.
One of the traditions from when this event started way back in 1923 is handing out egg salad sandwiches to everyone after the parade is done. I’ve volunteered to help make said sandwiches this Friday—I had to go online and take a test to get my food handler’s card, which I of course passed with flying colors…heh!
I’m not sure how much of the festivities I’ll be able to participate in on Saturday – I have a board meeting from 11am-1pm on Saturday, and the hubby has two gigs on Saturday – one from 3pm-6pm and another from 8pm-11pm. We basically have to leave the minute my Zoom meeting is done to race the 50+ minutes to get to the first gig, and then, when that gig is done, race 50+ minutes to the other location for the second gig.
I’m going to be so tired on Sunday!
But wait! There’s more!
There’s a special event at our local tavern Sunday morning starting at 9am… It’s an Ink & Drink: Ladies Day at The Club—the ultimate brunch-and-body-art experience. Should be interesting! The “Ink” part is a mobile tattoo artist who will be there, giving anyone who wants it a tiny tattoo. I might just have to do that just for fun – I’ll keep you posted. Of course, I’m also looking forward to the brunch part, too – this little tavern always has great food. ☺️
That’s a lot of happenings, isn’t it? We’d better move on to the funnies, eh? This cracked me up:
