It’s America so i was Born in the U.S.A. – why don’t we Party In The U.S.A. with a Red Solo Cup?

The final Monday of June, people! I think we can all agree that time is flying by way too fast. Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and you know that Monday means music! This week’s theme is “National Day pick”. Since Friday happens to be the Fourth of July, I figured I’d go with that theme. Let’s get this national day party started!

Let’s start with a patriotic song that’s a pick-you-up and make-you-pump-your-fists-and-sing-along kind of song. Bet you’ll be singing along.

Here’s Rodney Atkins with “It’s America”:

Next up is a classic hit, the name of the song also being the name of this artist’s seventh studio album. The album became one of his highest-selling records, featuring additional hit songs such as “Glory Days” and “Dancing In the Dark”. He’s also one of the first artists I’d ever gone to see in concert.

Give it up for Bruce Springsteen with “Born in the U.S.A.”:

Next up, this was the lead single from this artist’s first-ever EP, which was sold exclusively at American Walmart stores in conjunction with the then-teenage singer’s clothing line. The breezy summertime pop anthem features semi-autobiographical lyrics concerning the artist’s move from Tennessee to Los Angeles.

In the video, the artist pays tribute to one of her favorite movies, Grease, and she also wanted to pay tribute to her parents’ courting days. When they were first dating, they went to a drive-in in Kentucky called the Corral Drive-In – so the drive-in in the video was named after that as an homage to them. In addition, the artist’s mom used to drive a ’79 black Pontiac Trans Am, Smokey and the Bandit style, so that’s the car that the artist arrives in.

Get ready to dance, here’s Miley Cyrus with “Party In The U.S.A.”:

Last but certainly not least, of course, you can’t have a party without a Red Solo Cup, right? I mean, I think there might be a law about that somewhere. So naturally we need to include this song in the fun. Fair warning, though, this is the unedited version, so there may be some NSFW moments therein.

Get ready for some fun, here’s the late great Toby Keith with “Red Solo Cup”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor! Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
