Hello my favorite Monday peeps! Hope all you fathers out there had a wonderful Father’s Day! Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and you know that Monday means music! This week’s theme is “Sunny songs.” Let’s get this sunny party started!
Let’s start with this favorite sunshine duet of this artist with her 9-year-old daughter at the time, released back in February 2021 during the COVID pandemic; the sweet song looks forward to a brighter future when the lockdown is over. The artist said:
“We all know this year has been different and challenging and at times terrifying and tumultuous and angsty and all the things. And I personally find comfort in music, I find comfort in song, I love singing with my daughter and my son.”
The song was recorded at their home, because “…it made us feel happy and so we’re gonna put it out for no other reason than that we hope that the song makes you feel happy.”

Next up is another sunny song from 2022 that was released as part of the soundtrack to the movie Clifford the Big Red Dog.
Lyrics of the song features a positive vibe, and tell the newfound stability of oneself despite the difficulties, and the things committed thanks to a more positive and happy vision of one’s life.

Next up is a feel-good summer song where the artist calls for slowing down and enjoying the simple things in life when everything feels out of control. The artist actually wrote the song via Zoom during the COVID-19 quarantine.
Don’t owe nothing to the lender / Nothing spinning in the blender / The only thing on my agenda is / Beers and sunshine / Bonfires and summertime
This song is the artist’s cure for the lockdown blues in a world where friends can still meet up together around a bonfire. The artist explained they penned the song as an antidote to stress and anxiety during a heavy year:
“Like it says in the song, I don’t know how we fix any of these big, real issues that we’re facing, but while we work through this time, I think it’s important that we find the silver lining where we can really enjoy the little moments and the simple joys of time spent together with friends and family.”

Last but certainly not least is one of my all-time favorite sunny summer songs. This is pretty much my water/summer dream song. And I’ve been really jonesin’ about getting a pontoon boat since being back in the Pacific Northwest with plenty of bodies of water to play in. And motorboat in. 😉
Fun Fact: At the 2013 ACM Awards, Little Big Town was asked if they were concerned about the title. They weren’t until they went to London and realized the people there really had no idea what a pontoon is. The members of the band grew up on pontoons and on the lake, so they didn’t think about the fact that pontoons aren’t everywhere.

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!
Now, onto the particulars of Monday’s Music Moves Me:
I have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and our musical cohort, the awesome Cathy from Curious as a CAThy, and Alana of Ramblin’ with AM!
Want to join in the fun? It’s easy – just find a tune that rocks your boat, post it and link up – don’t forget to grab Xmas Dolly…er, um, I mean her button…over at her place here. Check out Xmas Dolly’s sidebar for the random themes we sport each week – and you can always ask for a specific theme of music you like, too. Check out the other music lovahs and let’s jam!
We’re stuck in a cold, rainy weather pattern, but your sunny sings make me feel warmer
Darius Rucker’s song has a feel good, relaxing kind of vibe. In a few days it’ll be officially summer. It’s felt like that here for quite awhile already. Have a boogietastic week, Stacy! xo
Great songs. I love Little Big Town. Very nice.
I always love Pink. I love that last song which seems to have a double entrendre that they sing. I would have fun on that boat.
A fun post. In summer you give yourself permission to kick back and relax, and these songs all reflected that vibe. My favorite? Pink and her daughter.
