Hello, my favorite Monday peeps! Hope all you mothers out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Meanwhile, since it is Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?
Let’s start with is a brand new song from this brother trio that premiered on March 21st. The song is part of their 20th anniversary celebrations, an upbeat pop tune, first performed during their anniversary show in Toronto last month. They lean into romantic euphoria:
Could give me everything, but it ain’t enough / You can’t put a price on the human touch / I could be down, but you love me to heaven / Turns out the Northern Lights don’t impress me much / Guess I’m just a fool for the human touch / I could be down, but you love me to Heaven

Next up is a brand new song from this favorite artist that features Ipswich, Massachusetts. To film the video, he created a pop-up English–inspired pub called The Old Phone Pub in the town at the end of March.
He began the secretive project by launching theoldphonepub.com, where he announced that he was working on “something exciting” and asked fans to text memorable messages and images to a number found on the site. The secret quickly became the hottest news item in Massachusetts. Word spread that the English pop star would be coming to Ipswich, and fans turned out in full force to welcome him.
The artist explains that the new song is about finding his old phone and going through text messages from friends who have passed away, old relationships, and people he hadn’t seen in about 10 years. He said:
“I come from a small town in the U.K., and it’s near a big town called Ipswich. I heard about this place, and I wanted to come and build the pub here, and just get involved with the community for the day.”
The new video shows scenes around the town of Ipswich and clips taken from inside the makeshift pub where the artist played to an audience selected by a lottery. Guests were chosen by sending Sheeran old text messages or pictures that held meaning in their lives. He posted on social media:
“I wanted fans to all come to this special first pop-up Old Phone pub gig to be there for the same reason, and emotionally connected. I wanted everyone in that room to have felt the same feelings of nostalgia, longing, joy and sadness I had felt from going through my old phone. I asked all of them to submit a video, a photo or a message from their old phone that meant a lot to them to get into the gig that night, and we all shared in a night of music, dancing, laughing and tears.
It was really magical, maybe my favourite music video I’ve ever made. Shout out to Emil Nava for making my dream happen, all the amazing people who built the Old Phone pub for one night only in Ipswich MA, and of course, all the wonderful people of Ipswich MA who made us feel so welcome that day. The music video is out now, enjoy. More to come x” – Ed.
Get ready for some fun, here’s Ed Sheeran with “Old Phone”:
Next up, this artist has really turned a corner in recent years (in my opinion), and this brand-new song from her solidifies that she’s back. The Grammy-winning superstar released this latest single on May 9th alongside a simple music video featuring her sporting high-fashion looks and letting herself cry over a relationship that’s not working out.
I stay / When the ecstasy is far away / And I pray / That it’s comin’ ’round again / And you say it / But I wish it wasn’t true, oh / I knew someday that one would have to choose / I just thought we had more to lose
This song will appear on the artist’s upcoming album, dropping on May 30th. The album will be accompanied by a film, which will premiere on June 6th at the Tribeca Festival. The artist has a special connection to her fans, many of whom have supported her from her Disney days.
“People say we grew up together, and we really did. And it’s definitely what makes, I think, this film so magical and so potent is that all of us have kind of created it together, and it’s cool to be in a room full of people I’ve never met, you know, or strangers, and, you know, you’re not that strange.
We’re all a little strange, but that’s what I think has made all of us really, kind of hold on to the relationship that we have. It’s cool to be able to go into a room with people I haven’t met and be like, ‘Remember when my house burned down?’ And you guys are like, ‘Yeah.’ ‘Remember when my fish died?’ ‘Yeah.'”
Give a listen to Miley Cyrus with “More to Lose”:
Last but certainly not least is a brand new song from this favorite artist that she premiered on May 1st. She was inspired by the Hulu hit show “Only Murders in the Building” – she said:
“I wrote this song — I’ve rarely done something like this — but I was watching ‘Only Murders in the Building’. It’s Martin Short’s face. He says to Meryl Streep’s character in the show, ‘Where have you been?’ Like, he’s in awe. And I was like, ‘Has there been — has anyone written a song?’ Because the song is happy, because it’s like, you found something that you thought was almost basically a unicorn and did not exist.”
Get ready for goosebumps, here’s the inimitable Kelly Clarkson with “Where Have You Been”:

A song inspired by “Only Murders”? Wow
Nice choices! Happy belated Mother’s Day!
I find myself liking the Jonas Brothers more and more the more I hear them. The Old Phone project was such a great one. I kept every email a close childhood girlfriend made to me after she was diagnosed with cancer. I also kept a couple of pictures she posted on Facebook- she would dress in costumes sometime when taking chemo. She passed away almost 10 years ago and I am so glad I kept what I did. I’m sure others feel the same, and I loved the part of the music video where some invitee shared their memories of old phone material.
Such great songs here. Very nice.
