Hello, Monday peeps! We had a couple of days of warm-ish sunny weather, so the blossoms are starting to burst forth with color, announcing the true arrival of spring. 😉 Of course now we’re back to raining like cats and dogs here in the Pacific Northwest, which I guess could also be considered a true arrival of spring…heh!
Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday means music! This week’s theme is “Rain Showers”…how apropos! Let’s get this rainy party started!
Let’s start with ga fun, uptempo song with lyrics such as:
Cause the sun’s too bright, the sky’s too blue / Beer’s too cold to be thinking ’bout you / Gonna take this heartbreak and tuck it away / Save it for a rainy day
The artist was quoted as saying:
“There’s so much more to country than trucks, creek beds and cut-offs. That stuff is fun, but when you look at how people really dig in and work, the things they face every day, you wanna remind ’em how hardcore they really are, show ’em that and also show ’em that you know there’s more to ’em than people might think.
The idea is, why lose another beautiful day over something out of our control? Whatever it is, a girlfriend leaving, a crummy boss, something else, the reality is pretty simple: they don’t care that they’re ruining your day. And they’re not, you are! It’s your choice how you’re going to feel… a lot more than any of us realize.
We all go through stuff. And you know, you can get so caught up in what I did wrong, or trying to take the blame, and you start missing out on everything else… We all make mistakes, we all screw up, but we’re also – I think most of us – good people trying to do right, and have some fun while we’re here! Friends, family, the moments, that’s the stuff that’s so easy to miss, and this song makes it so easy to figure out.”
Get ready to dance, here’s Kenny Chesney with “Save It for a Rainy Day”:
Next up is a song that appears as a hidden track on this artist’s 4th studio album that was released back in April 2006. It’s a duet between this artist and her father, James T. Moore. As she explains before the song, her father wrote it while serving in Vietnam.
As a child, this artist used to accompany her father to Veterans’ centers and sing it with him – it was the first song she ever learned, ever performed and is, in fact, how she learned to sing. It’s a tribute to her father and to war veterans everywhere.
You’re going to love this – here’s P!nk (and her late dad) with “I Have Seen the Rain”:
Next up is a a rainy song by an artist who was born and raised in Leesburg, Georgia. At age fourteen, his parents bought him his first guitar, and after learning to play it, he joined various local bands and began to play in local clubs.
He had planned to move to Nashville for the music industry, but his older brother died in a car accident the night before he moved, so he decided to attend a college closer to home because he felt as though his family was more important than going to Music City.
He kept on with his music career, though, by playing with local bands. In 2001, his father convinced him to move to Nashville and pursue a musical career. He decided to become a country singer while he was at college. I, for one, am so glad he did.
Here’s the always handsome Luke Bryan with “Rain Is A Good Thing”:
Last but certainly not least is a brand new song from this favorite artist. He teamed up with an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer for this new song, tackling the mental health crisis. The artist said:
“The song also exists from the standpoint of, ‘You can’t really put your finger on what it is that is wrong with you.’ You don’t know what got you in this funk, and I think it’s an epidemic right now. It’s not only the dull sort of normal situations that people are getting depressed about. But there are extremes like (a Nashville publisher who committed suicide) who was here when we wrote this, or tWitch on Ellen.”
Lyrics include: Now I don’t even need a reason| No one’s sick, and no one died| No one’s left, and no one’s leaving| But it’s raining inside| The bottom’s falling out| It’s raining inside
“It’s an emotional song for me. The theme can be taken a lot of ways. I have people who have been through situations in their life that this is where they’re at.”
The two collaborating artists wrote the song around the time that Ellen DeGeneres’ sidekick tWitch killed himself. The loss hit the artist hard as he had recently hosted the Ellen DeGeneres Show and tWitch was terrific.
“He was such a bright light when I worked with him that day. I had to play off him as the host. Then I was shocked because all of our conversations that day, I would have never known.”
The artist describes the track as a throwback to California 70s rock. He and the other artist play dueling electric guitar parts very similar to their favorite bands.
When they saw each other at the Grammys this year, the men decided there was no better time to release the song.
“I continue to see reasons why I wanted to say this right now. This isn’t something that’s a risk or anything. But I do think that it’s timely. It’s an interesting idea to do a song that’s kind of like blue blues for no reason. There’s a lot of people that can’t shake it no matter what good happens to them. We see it all the time.”
Without further ado, here’s Brad Paisley and Taylor Goldsmith with “Raining Inside”:
That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

Well Stacy all those songs are new to me and I really enjoyed them and all the gaps you filled with information really help 💜💜 Have a great weekend.
Very nice songs here. Enjoyed them all.
The rain gets a bad rap but it truly is good. Without the rain, flowers don’t bloom, crops don’t grow, and people suffer. Sadly sometimes it does rain inside but hopefully for most the showers are normal and for those who deal with raging storms, I pray they’ll come through the rain stronger. Good selection! Have a boogietastic week, Stacy! xo
I’m not much into country but I do like that last song. It seems perfect for a sad soul.
My favorite was the Pink song, just because. Such a heartfelt song. Alana
