Hello, Monday peeps! Whew! I finally had a (much-needed) day off yesterday after working 13 days in a row. Yes, it was my choice, and I won’t be doing that again until October…heh! It was nice to have a chance to decompress finally! And find music for today. 😉
Meanwhile, it is Monday; you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?
Let’s start with a brand new song from this Irish pop-rock band formed in 2001 in Dublin. They sadly lost one of the co-founders and guitarists of the band back in 2023 when he passed away unexpectedly while in the hospital with an unknown illness at the young age of 46.
A year after the sad death of their band member, they released a new single and, the following day announced two additions to their band – a bassist and a lead guitarist. They felt being a trio “would never be the same”.
With this newly released song, one of the band members said that he’d had a lyric in his head for a long time but not found the right song for it:
“I was in a studio with a guy called Steve Mac, one of my favourite guys to write with, and I just recently found out, got diagnosed with dyslexia. It’s kind of funny that I’m a writer, but I’m dyslexic.
So, we were chatting about this, and I just started to pour out that I’ve been sitting on this lyric for about five years, I put it into many different songs and it never, ever worked.
The lyric was ‘The thing that never changes, is things are going to change.’ And with society moving so fast, it’s so easy to let all those intrusive thoughts come into your mind and to take over, and instead of that, what I tried to do was to get every single feeling that I’ve ever felt in these past two years, or my entire life, out into one song.
So we talk about having… my heart has ADHD, attention deficit, I can’t focus on the one thing. So we just tried to bring all of the elements of mental health into one song and try and give in a lighthearted way, that was easy for people to talk about because men are absolutely useless at opening up and talking about mental health.
So this was our way to bring it to the forefront, to try and make it a bit easier for people to put it into today’s conversation.”
Get ready for some goosebumps, here’s The Script with “Inside Out”:
Next up is another brand new song from this favorite artist – who happened to have a cameo on one of my favorite Friday Night shows, “Fire Country“. His cameo is his first foray into acting – he said:
“I’m playing a guy who’s a second chance man, who’s been in and out of prison, but lost his mother due to dementia, so my form of rehabilitation for myself, and to give back as a man of service, was I came to work at the local nursing home. I really found myself in this guy.
When I came home from my last time being incarcerated, where I was so determined to change who I was as a human, if music didn’t work, I have a feeling that I wouldn’t have been far fetched from being Noah working somewhere at some place, just trying to help people.”
Give a listen to Jelly Roll with “Dreams Don’t Die”:
Next up is a brand new song from this OG artist, the first advance track made available from his forthcoming archival box set; the expansive collection, which features seven previously unheard full-length albums, will be released on June 27.
According to a post on the artist’s social media pages, the song is the “biggest rocker on Perfect World, [and] dates from the waning days of 1994 when [he] was still working on Streets of Philadelphia Sessions.”
This song is an epic-sounding mid-tempo rock tune that incorporates elements of modern rock, Americana, and even traditional Irish music. The social-media message includes a quote about the tune from the artist: “I was looking for someplace else to go musically.”
The song is basically a murder ballad. 😱 The haunting lyrics are delivered from the viewpoint of a man who seemingly takes the life of his beloved after she confesses that her feelings do not mirror his own. The visually striking black-and-white music video merges aerial shots of a car cruising along a desolate highway with surreal imagery of a mystical woman and intimate close-ups of a contemplative artist.
Give a listen to the inimitable Bruce Springsteen with “Rain in the River”:
Last but certainly not least is a brand new song from this trio of brothers. The track is the lead single from their highly anticipated seventh studio album slated for release on August 8th. They continue to build on their impressive legacy, delivering a fresh anthem that’s both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
The song is an uplifting, feel-good anthem that brings positivity and a sense of unity – qualities that are at the heart of this new chapter for the band. Shot in New York City, the video features the band performing the track live in a recording studio, with a raw, authentic energy that mirrors the song’s anthemic feel.
The video brings the song’s joyous energy to life with intimate shots of the band’s performance, allowing fans to feel like they’re right there with them. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to their music, this song is a must-listen that proves why the brothers remain one of the most successful and beloved groups of the 21st Century.
Get ready to dance, here’s the Jonas Brothers with “Love Me To Heaven”:

Woo, 13 days straight at the old grindstone is tough! So, glad you got a day off to hit reset. Thanks for sharing these song introductions. Jelly Roll Dreams Don’t Die is my favorite. It’s a bit different form most of his other stuff I heard which is quite interesting but then he’s an interesting fella. Have a boogietastic week, Stacy! xo
Simply awesome playlist. I have come to truly enjoy Jelly Roll. “The Boss” will always be the boss and the Jonas Brothers are bringing a new maturity to their sound. Great picks this morning.
These are great songs. I like the Springsteen song and the Script. It’s sad that he died so young. His voice reminds me of the title song one hears from the TV show, “Unforgotten” it’s a really good song.
I love your songs, the Boss is the best. Very nice playlist.
Bruce’s song was haunting and Jelly Roll never disappoints! Sorry, Bruce, but Jelly Roll was my favorite of this week, even though the Jonas Brothers song had a nice beat.
