Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Can we just skip this Tuesday, even though it’s the first day of April? No? Alrighty then!
Our purging purgatory was partially successful – we had a few snafus in that I ended up with some work crisis that needed to be tended to during the ‘blocked calendar/limited availability’ days (I know, right?!). And then, to add insult to injury and another crimp in our slated time, the hubby took a load to the dump in the truck and when he was finished, the truck wouldn’t start when he was done. Of course, the dump is 1/2 hour from here; I had to go pick him up, of course.
He got charged $180 to get the truck towed a whole mile to a car repair place – only to find out said car repair place is no longer doing car repairs, only oil changes. They did take a look at it and said it looked like possibly the fuel pump had given up the ghost and offered to have it towed to another car repair place not too far from there.
We have a repair place right here in our tiny town that the hubby can walk to – so he posted on our local Facebook page asking for help getting the truck from the car place to here (rather than get soaked on towing expenses from somebody for a 28-ish mile tow after the highway robbery he already paid). A very kind local offered to bring it from there to here for a mere $125 – sold! Now it’s sitting at our local repair place, waiting for the local dude to find out what’s really wrong with it.
Apparently, to change out the fuel pump, you have to either drop the gas tank to access it or remove the truck bed. Sheesh! Ford doesn’t make things very easy, do they? 😅 But at least it’s at a place where we’ve had our cars worked on and oil changes done, so we’re confident in the dude doing the work, as well as not as huge of a hit on our wallets. 😉
Meanwhile, we have made a lot of progress in spite of Murphy and his Law throwing curveballs at us, and while we’re not where we’d hoped we’d by by the end of the week, we’ll still be plugging along with any spare time we have, and once the we get the truck back, the hubby will be making regular trips to the dump with the balance that won’t be going into the dumpster before it gets picked up on Wednesday.
Once we find out if we have a credit balance on that dumpster, we’ll get a smaller one for a couple of weeks to continue the purge. I’m hoping by the time summer rolls around, we’ll have totally eliminated the stacks’o’boxes and revive a semblance of sanity…heh!
Today is April Fool’s Day – I’m laying low to avoid any pranks…mwahahaha! The hubby’s birthday is tomorrow – I always joke that he was born on the 1st vs. the 2nd because it would make more sense…LOL! He’s pulling a prank on his students – he posted this on his class announcement page at midnight on Sunday night:
He did alert the dean so the dean wouldn’t be freaking out thinking he really is retiring when he’s not – he’s going to let the students stew until the end of the day today that it’s an April Fool’s joke – but they will be enjoying a pizza party tomorrow in honor of his birthday. I’m dying to find out how it goes over – I’ll fill you in on that next week!
