Hello, Monday peeps! Spring has arrived, and of course, it’s raining like cats and dogs here in the Pacific Northwest. Murphy’s Law – it’s the hubby’s spring break this week, and we had a dumpster delivered to our driveway to do some mega purging… the rain sort of puts a crimp in our style, so we’re not sure how much we’ll be able to get done, but we’re determined to make a huge dent this week.

We’ve already started filling up the dumpster, so there’s hope we’ll make some good progress when the rain steps aside today and tomorrow. I’m taking these next two and a half days off (starting today) just to purge – I’ll keep you posted! Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday means music! This week’s theme is “Spring Time Again!” Let’s get this spring party started!

Let’s start with gorgeous storytelling in this 2018 country-crossover hit that recounts the springtime love feeling of butterflies. New love is always equated with the newness of spring, and this song captures the essence of a new love feeling that is delicately balanced and may not actually materialize.

Give a listen to Kacey Musgraves with “Butterflies”:

Spring is all about new beginnings, blooming flowers, and longer, sunnier days. This empowering anthem became an instant hit in 2023 and is still blooming strong. With lyrics about self-love and resilience, the song radiates positivity and confidence—perfect for feeling empowered as the days get warmer. Plus, the mellow yet upbeat vibe gives you that sunshine-filled energy you need to embrace the season!

Here’s Miley Cyrus with “Flowers”:

Next up is a reflective and emotional song. The song was created during the artist’s annual spring break concert series, marking the end of an era for his popular tradition.

It’s a nostalgic tribute to the good times spent with friends and the bittersweet feeling of letting go as the season ends. With a catchy country melody, it captures the essence of spring as a time for celebration and memories that last a lifetime and emphasizes the fleeting nature of moments, much like the short season of spring.

Give a listen to the always amazing Luke Bryan with “Spring Breakdown”:

Last but certainly not least is a song that delivers a message of perseverance and freedom via the imagery of the American West and relates to the artist’s upbringing in rural Louisiana. And the title alone shouts ‘spring’. 😉 The artist said about the song:

“This one definitely shows that western side, it takes me back to my childhood. It takes me back to my roots. I come from a long line of hardheaded tough people and people who have kind of blazed their own trails. I’m from five generations of farmers in northeast Louisiana, and I always compare farming to the music business. I mean, you get up every day, do the same thing, you have good years, you have bad years, but you just keep on blazing that trail. So I think it’s just kind of digging a little deeper into my story.”

Fun fact: The song is featured prominently in a Wrangler commercial starring the artist.

Without further ado, here’s Lainey Wilson with “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. One of your songs is match up my pick this week, Stacy! Nice line up to kick things off for spring. Have a boogietastic week, darlin’! xo

  2. Oh wow! You are purging big time! I wish I could purge more…my hubby keeps a lot and so do I but I am the least of the packrats compared to my parents and my brother. The music is good and quite reflective.

  3. Spring? (it’s snowing right now where I live). I enjoyed your set – Lainey Wilson’s song really got my foot to tapping and was my favorite. “Butterflies” was a really popular song this week and it deserved to be.
