Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! What are your traditions on Christmas Eve? Do you unwrap one gift, no gifts, all the gifts? Do you have a special dinner today, to wait until tomorrow? Spill the tea! As for us, our tradition has always been to unwrap friends and family gifts on Christmas Eve, then “Santa” gifts on Christmas morning.

At the time of this writing, just after dinner on Monday night, I still have an Amazon warehouse for a living room. In know, I know, I best get busy! A couple things thwarted my good intentions to have all the gifts wrapped today (or yesterday, if you’re waiting until Tuesday to read this). My brother had his annual Christmas Even breakfast and White Elephant exchange with just the immediate family members. He lives about 90-minutes from us, so you could say it’s a three-hour-tour. 😉

We had a wonderful time, as usual – here’s a pic of us all:

Yes, I was wearing a light-up Christmas sweater and light-up Christmas earrings! 😂 When we got home, I managed to wrap a few gifts before heading to bed. We actually had an alarm to wake up to since I had to make an hour’s trip to my audiologist to find out what was going on with my left hearing aid. It suddenly decided it no longer wanted to transmit sound.

So I’ve been half deaf since Thursday. No fun just before the holidays! It is even less fun having to drive in a ton of traffic one hour one-way for a 15-minute appointment, which resulted in them being unable to fix it there; it needs to be sent in for the manufacturer to fix.

The only reason for that is because it concerns the transmitter wire attached to my earbud. I have corkscrew-shaped ear canals, so they had to make special corkscrew-shaped earbuds. That explains why I have never been able to wear regular earbuds – they don’t ‘seat’ properly in my ears. I know, I’m special. I picked up a pair of over-the-counter hearing aids to wear one in my left ear for now. It’s uncomfortable, of course, since it doesn’t fit right, and sounds and people speaking echo like nobody’s business. Hurry up and wait is not my favorite thing to do – I’ll get my good hearing aid back sometime in January.

I did manage to organize the gifts, though (or at least I hope I did – I’ll be doing that as soon as I hit ‘publish’ on this…heh!). My oldest has volunteered to wrap gifts for me, so I think I’ll have him wrap all the hubby’s gifts – the ones for Christmas Eve and the Santa gifts. I might even have him wrap the Santa gifts I got for myself. I get my own Santa gifts, since the hubby never remembers to get me any. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Final countdown to Christmas! Where did the time go??

  1. Merry Christmas! Love your light up earrings and sweater, and just to give my opinion. I’m not a genxer! Die Hard is not a Christmas movie, to me. But I also don’t think “My Favorite Things” is a Christmas song, yet they play it on the Christmas music channels! Happy Holidays!
