Hello Monday! Summer is continuing into September weather-wise here in the Pacific Northwest – I’m hoping for bonafide fall weather soon! Since it is Monday, that, of course, means music! This week’s theme is “National Calendar Day themed songs – Dimples Day, Cow Appreciation Day, or Sugar Cookie Day – you decide!” Let’s get this calendar party started!

This was a tough theme – not many non-kid songs out there about cows, my friends! But I did find this hilarious parody of “We Will Rock You” by Queen in this hilarious music video by three brothers who farm together with their families. Very entertaining!

Get ready for some fun here’s Peterson Farm Bros with “We Will Milk Cows”:

Next up, I stumbled across this funny song by one of my favorite country artists, and this description online about what it’s about:

“Brown chicken, brown cow” is a sound that is meant to mimic or imitate the sound of an electric guitar that is being played through an effects pedal called a “wah-wah” while muting the strings. It’s also said like “bow chicka wow wow”.

So there ya go! The music video is also hilarious – made 13 or so years ago.

Get ready for giggles, here’s Trace Adkins with “Brown Chicken Brown Cow”:

Next, since I couldn’t find a decent song about sugar cookies, I decided to share a song about one of the best sugar cookie ingredients—sugar. 😉 The music video for this single was shot in Los Angeles in December 2014 and was inspired by the 2005 romantic comedy Wedding Crashers. It features the band crashing several weddings, during which they surprise the newlyweds and their guests.

The director conceived the concept a month before filming. For the video, he had a special tent built that hid the band from the newlyweds and their guests. Although he initially wanted to surprise both spouses, the director decided to tell the grooms about the surprise; the secret remained hidden, however, from the brides and guests until the moment of revelation.

Several online magazines reported that the weddings in the video were staged while the newlyweds were actors – at least two were legit weddings.

Give a listen to Maroon 5 with “Sugar”:

Last but certainly not least, we’re switching to a serious mode because this week commemorates the 23rd anniversary of 9/11 (wow. just wow.) with a song written in the wake of the September 11 attacks, released on November 26, 2001, as the lead single from this artist’s new album at the time. The artist considers this song to be his biggest-ever accomplishment. He said:

“I [recently] did a radio interview, and the guy was talking about being at the [CMA] Awards the night I sang ‘Where Were You.’ Even though that was a hard performance for me and an emotional time, I still get so many comments about that. Of all the awards and all that kind of stuff, the music is still what I like. To be able to create a song that really affects people and makes a mark in the music industry, I would have to say that would be a highlight.”

The artist wrote the song on his own, having the idea at 4 a.m., explaining that the lyrics really “came out of nowhere.”

“It was just a gift. I got up and scribbled it down and put the melody down so I wouldn’t forget it, and the next day, I started piecing all those verses together, thoughts I had or visuals I had.”

Without further ado, here’s Alan Jackson with “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)”:

Never Forget!

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. Your first song pick is a great discovery. I loved this fun parody! It really brightened my morning. 😀 I also enjoyed Trace’s song. Thanks for sharing all of your selections. Have a boogietastic week, dear Stacy!

  2. The first one is great! Love the cows. The 2nd one is fun and I heard they did this for real. You can see it in the brides’ faces. The one even said ” What the F#%@!”. The last one is excellent and so heartfelt. No words can describe that day, like so many other days of horror from pre WW1, WW1, WW2 and the other wars. So very sad.

  3. This was a fantastic playlist. That Trace Adkins video was so funny, especially the end, but I got the biggest kick out of the Milking Cows video. I lived in rural country for four years and saw how hard the farmers around us worked. Thank you, too, for remembering 9/11.
