Successful Surgery Robbed My Voice with Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! I’m alive and well – surgery last week went without a hitch. I did manage to get up at the gawdawful time of 3:30 am Friday, and we arrived a few minutes before check-in time, which commenced a whole lot of ‘hurry-up-and-wait’ moments that made the hubby cranky since he didn’t have his coffee that morning.

I did set up the coffee maker the night before, so there was fresh coffee (that was driving my olfactory senses crazy as I was jonesin’ for coffee but of course not allowed. The nurses in the pre-op area were fabulous and took very good care of me.

I neglected to let the anesthesiologist know that I have a narrow esophagus – holy moly have I had the mother of all sore throats since Friday, and I’m writing this on Sunday afternoon still having trouble swallowing because of the pain.

And I have no voice at the moment – I think he dinged my vocal cords since that’s the part that hurts the worst. Hopefully, in a day or two I’ll be back to ‘normal’, though, especially when I have meetings this week that I’ll need to speak up for…heh!

As for the surgery itself – the surgeon used the same incision site the dermatologist created when he excised my suspect beauty mark – this surgeon didn’t have to make the slice bigger and found that the tear/hole was small enough he was able to simply stitch it up without having to add mesh.

That was awesome news – no mesh means shorter recovery time I think. I did sleep in my recliner both Friday and Saturday night, and the doggies were careful not to jump on me (whew!). It’s nice to have that all taken care of, though, especially since I’d put it off for well over a year.

Of course, being in recovery mode all weekend made the weekend go by that much faster – how was your weekend? Let’s jump into the funnies, shall we? This is hilarious:
