Medical Fun and Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

Hello, my favorite Tuesday peeps! Since yesterday was a federal holiday, today’s Tuesday feels like a Monday. And of course, the week will be jam-packed trying to fit 5 days of work into 4. Well, for me, it’ll be 5 days of work into 3, since I have to go get a beauty mark on my abdomen excised by the dermatologist. I know, fun right? What’s interesting is when I saw my regular doc back at the end of December, she noticed a couple of beauty marks on my back she didn’t like the look of, so she referred me to a dermatologist.

That visit was good, in that the ones my doc was concerned about were ‘receding’, but he didn’t like the look of the quarter-sized one on my abdomen I’d been annoyed by since its mysterious appearance during my pregnancy – over 21 years ago, mind you! But subsequent doc visits discounted it until an actual dermatologist looked at it. He removed it that same day (yay!) but the results came back that it had ‘legs’ and needs to be completely excised to avoid potential cancer. So yeah, that’s what I’m doing on Thursday. 

Ironically where the beauty mark is is directly on the location of a hernia I managed to acquire, with surgery for that scheduled super early on April 5th. Hopefully, the excised beauty mark will be completely healed before they have to slice open that same spot six weeks later. I tell you what, it’s no picnic getting older!
