Happy New Year everyone! Hope the first week of the new year has been treating you well. Since it’s Monday, you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?

Let’s start with this new song from a favorite artist – she weaves a heartbreaking tale in the video, though she herself is absent from the visual, apart from her voice providing the backing soundtrack for an adventurous couple whose idyllic explorations are disrupted by sudden illness.

In the video, the couple embarks on a search for hidden crystals and other artifacts that reflect light. Back at home, not too far from the mountains and wide expanses of land that they spend their time exploring, the woman collapses onto the floor of their living room. Rushed to the hospital, she receives a grim prognosis. They try to maintain some semblance of normalcy as she undergoes treatment, but their love is living on borrowed time.

I’m all out of fight / My heart will always know your name / I’m all out of love / But look at all the love we made / I’m all out of life / Oh, babe, it’s killing me to say / I’m all out of love, I’m all out of life

The only thing that remains in this absence is light. Even as her health deteriorates, the woman musters up the strength to create a moving light show with the findings uncovered by her great explorations with her great love.

Next up is a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum band that recently dropped a surprise single as we entered the new year. They said:

“2023 flew by, and what a year it’s been! Our 9th record, CAVES, is out, and we hope you love it. We hit the road too, and leg 1 of The CAVES World Tour was incredible. Your energy each night fueled us – thanks for being the best fans in the world! As a new year’s surprise, enjoy our new song “I Don’t Wanna Worry,” available everywhere now. Your support means the world to us, and we can’t wait to see y’all again this spring. Here’s to more in 2024! – Bear, Seth, Josh, Randall & Tyler”

Next up is a brand new song by this favorite artist – six months after announcing he was taking a break from touring, the artist gave a health update to his fans. He ended the year on a positive note with his social media post revealing his significant health improvement and new music to kick off 2024:

“As most of you will know, I’m currently taking some time off to focus on my health and well-being and it’s been going great, I’ve been working with some incredible professionals to help me learn about and cope better with Tourette’s and anxiety issues. I’m really happy to say I’ve noticed a marked improvement in both since I decided to take some time off back in June.

Prior to my decision to f— off for a bit, I’d always hoped to release an extended version at some point! After some back-and-forth about whether or not it was the right thing to do, I’ve decided it would be a shame for these five extra songs, which are so incredibly special to me, to sit on my hard drive, never to see the light of day.

For now I’m going to continue taking some time to carry on looking after myself, maybe writing some new music, and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life. I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100 percent before getting back out there properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything!”

Give a listen to the inimitable Lewis Capaldi with “A Cure For Minds Unwell”:

Last, but certainly not least, this artist has been working on a new project amid his recovery from his near-fatal snowplow accident, on New Year’s Day 2022 – as he’s worked hard to get back on his feet, he has been busy writing music.

He announced back in October that his first album was forthcoming:

“A collection of music we wrote about different milestones in my journey of recovery since Jan 1st this year. Love and Titanium has been painful, deeply healing, and ultimately cathartic for me to create. I hope I get the courage to share with you all.”

Then two months later, he revealed that his first single would be released on New Year’s Day 2024, the one-year anniversary of his accident. He additionally teased that the song will tell the “story of life, death, recovery, all things learned along the way.”

I know that I’m complicated / I don’t have a lot to say / Maybe I’m uncomfortable / A little unpredictable sometimes / Whatever it’s worth / I know it hurts / You are the ocean and I am the Earth

Last March the star sat down for an emotionally candid interview with Diane Sawyer, where he spoke for the first time about the accident and the aftermath:

“I chose to survive, this is not going to kill me. I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”
