Hello Monday! Is it just me, or is this time of year – post-holidays – feels like time passes very slowly… waiting for the next holiday or 3-day weekend? The weather doesn’t help any, though, when it’s gray and dreary out. Well, it’s Monday, and Monday means music! That should take away some of the dreary, right? This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?

Let’s start with this song from a favorite artist – every year, he chooses a personal mission statement that becomes his own mantra for the next 12 months. His theme for 2024? Don’t stop praying. He said:

“We’ve all been to a place where discouragement can make us wonder if God really hears our prayers. I wrote this song for anybody who’s ever felt like giving up or losing their faith. I couldn’t be more excited to start the new year off with this new song. I hope it encourages anyone who hears it to join me in a commitment to prayer in 2024. Pray for our families, for our friends, for our enemies, for our nation, for our world. God hears the prayers of His people, so don’t stop praying.”

This song serves as a powerful reminder that God hears our prayers, and just because we haven’t seen the answer yet, doesn’t mean He’s not listening.

Next up is a favorite artist who finally released a “From the Vault” track back in November, in celebration of being named Spotify’s Global Top Artist of the year. She posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Um ok this is unreal?? I just wanted to say to anyone who listened to my music this year, anywhere in the world, thank you. Getting named Spotify’s Global Top Artist in 2023 is truly the best birthday/holiday gift you could’ve given me. We’ve seriously had THE MOST fun this year out there on tour and now this. Are you serious.”

She had previously dropped the song back in May as a digital release via her web store, after it appeared on an exclusive CD edition sold to fans at her Eras Tour stop in East Rutherford, N.J. Fans immediately lost their minds over the track, which features revealing lyrics many attributed to her breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn earlier in the year.

I wouldn’t marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her / Do I throw out everything we built or keep it? / I’m getting tired even for a phoenix / Always rising from the ashes / Mending all her gashes / You might just have dealt the final blow

Next up,  whenever I hear a song that catches my ear when I watch something, I always have to search for that song to share it with you. That’s the case with this song – I heard this song on a show I was watching last year, The Company You Keep, which was an awesome show but sadly, the show was canceled after the first season. I did, however, finally find the song I’d heard, though I didn’t find any background info on it, so I’ll just let you enjoy it like I did. 😉

Get ready to dance, here’s Night Panda and Beginners with “Let The Games Begin”:

Last, but certainly not least, this artist reflects on her doomed on-again, off-again 10+ year relationship, reflecting that she doesn’t need him to make her happy.

The song serves as a reminder to the artist of her own worth and the type of love she deserves. The pop star is determined to receive the love she needs in the form and intensity she desires, and if she can’t find it in a partner, she will give it to herself. The flowers mentioned in the lyrics symbolize the attention and care that she needs and wants to give to herself.

Without further ado, here’s Miley Cyrus with “Flowers”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. Miley Cyrus is definitely something else! Believe it or not I like the song. It’s one of those songs, that just stick with you forever, but now the song will stick in my head for a month.. hahaha Taylor Swift has been around for a very long time, and God bless her she’s still on top. I wish she’d find herself a mate. She just looks the type that should be on a man’s arm so to speak. Great tunes oh yeah, so many and sooooooo much money! God bless her! Have a great day girlfriend and stay warm. My weather report says snow is coming! brrrrrrrrrr I’m off to bed… It’s passed my bedtime for sure! hahaha HAVE A GREAT DAY MY FRIEND! GOD BLESS.!

  2. Stacy,

What a great song choice to open the dance floor with and I so agree, “Don’t Stop Praying”. I just love the emotional uplift of this tune! Most of your selections today are new to me. It was you who shared “Flowers” with me for the first time. The message of the song serves to remind anyone that love and attention for oneself is needed, is important, and shouldn’t be ignored because there isn’t a “significant other” to do it. We need need to take care of ourselves. I hope you are doing well and keeping warm. I’m so ready for spring. Have a boogietastic week, my dear! xo

  3. A good song list with women headliners. I find Miley irritating but I like this song and a couple ofnothers she’s done. Good list

  4. It’s such a shame that talented female artists seem to have so much trouble finding happiness and companionship. Makes for great songwriting but not so great lives. We need songs like the first song in times like this, when we all feel exhausted and discouraged.
