Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope you’re all enjoying special time with family and friends and that you receive one blessing after another this coming year. While it’s Christmas Day, it’s also Monday – and you know that Monday means music!
Traditionally, we’ve kept the last month of the year reserved for Christmas music. For the first time, we’re opening the dance floor to theme suggestions for theme weeks but let’s try to keep the theme related to the holidays. This week is “Build us a picture with songs what the holidays mean to you.”
While I’m not necessarily building a picture, as it were, I’m keeping with fun and sentimental – pretty much like how our holidays end up, which I love. So grab your meaningful holiday tune(s) and come dance with us, won’t you?
Let’s start with this hilariously brand new song from this country artist. The best country songs usually tell unlikely yet true stories in an elaborate way, and this artist’s holiday masterpiece employs that exact approach. A perfectly timed Uber ride handed him some inspiration on a silver platter, with a driver dressed up as Santa. He arrived in a festive red car with the license plate SANTA1, as well as a fluffy Santa hat on the dashboard.
With some help, the artist was able to track down “Santa.” The driver’s real name is John Bingman, a Portsmouth, VA-based maintenance tech. His side gig of driving Ubers gives him an excuse to get out of the house, and bonus – he plays drums in a 90s cover band. The artist said:
“When that kind of story lands in your lap, you can’t help but write it.”
With that spirit, they tried to preserve as much of John’s true story as possible in their song, taking a fun, easygoing route in the storytelling. Joyfully, the artist details his Uber ride from the Virginia Beach airport to his hotel with St. Nick himself. It’s even more special when you know that it was based on a true story!

Next up, this artist is having a lot of fun this holiday season. The country singer released a new Christmas tune complete with one of the most unique music videos you’ll see! Because his holiday hit runs at a different pace than your traditional Christmas song, the country musician decided to have some fun with the music video. He went all-in on animation — and it’s pretty popular. He said:
“I picked this song because it was just so fun when you heard it and wasn’t like anything I had heard before. Literally, wasn’t your typical Christmas cookie-cutter song and a fun one to dance to.”
He talked about the decision to create an animated music video for the song. He truly enjoyed how it turned out too. He said:
“It just feels old school and classic like how you used to watch ‘Rudolph’ and the other holiday cartoons, but with a new and slightly more mature twist on it. Loved the video and how it turned out. This song is so fun to sing live … but this was a totally different way to experience it.”
Get ready for some more hilarity, here’s Jon Pardi with “Beer For Santa”:
Next up is a song that was released back in 2021, after another 12 months rife with more uncertainty. Known for cranking out hits for both himself and other artists that quickly rocket to the top of the charts, the artist gets playful with his musical style on an album that gives him permission to branch out from his classic pop formula. Regardless of the sonic diversity, however, his warm message of hope rings true. He said:
“These past couple of years have felt like peace is in short supply, hope has been hard to find, and love and joy have been lost for so many. Christmas is a time when our hearts can be powerfully reminded that the peace, hope, love and joy we all need can still be found in a Savior. [This song] combines my love of the classics…with my love for writing and composing songs I hope will be new classics for years to come. Holiday albums give me a chance to be eclectic in musical styling; and hey, it was even fun to get dressed up in a tuxedo! My wife said I clean up good. So this Christmas album is already a win for me!”
Here’s Matthew West with “We Need Christmas”:
Last, but certainly not least, is a throwback yuletide track that was inspired by a holiday break that this artist spent with her family in Copenhagen, Denmark. She loved the different traditions that the Danes have to celebrate Christmas; special chocolates, Christmas beer, real candles on the Christmas tree, and dancing around the tree. She said:
“It’s something you can’t buy. It’s just a feeling.”
The festive video adds some new flavor to Christmas traditions, with the artist portraying “Merry Perry, Santa’s second wife.” The two take off for a tropical holiday, where they are joined by a snowman, reindeer, elf and other holiday pals.
