Tuesday has arrived – and it’s December, people!

Have I finished decorating yet? No. Mother Nature has been thwarting my best-laid plans with rain, rain, and more rain. Perhaps subconsciously I’m waiting until after my birthday – once upon a time, I used to wait until after my birthday to decorate, so my birthday wouldn’t be overrun by Christmas – I mean, after all, I experienced a lot of “this is your Birthday and Christmas present!” combos over the years, so I’ve tried to keep them separate.

As I’ve gotten older, however, I’ve embraced having Christmas decorations up before my Birthday – I do tend to go all out, so it’s a lot of work and time, might as well put them up to enjoy them longer, eh? But alas and alack, the weather has been uncooperative to be able to do my outside decorating. I still need to dig out some tubs and boxes of decorations from the shed – dashing back and forth between the house and shed in a torrential (and very very cold) downpour is not motivating to get that done…heh!

Looks like later this week we’ll have a break in the weather, so I’m going to keep an eye on things and see if it’s conducive to trekking back and forth to get the rest of the stuff I need out of the shed, and onto my porch, deck, and the rest of the interior fun. Wish me luck! Meanwhile, I mentioned we need to get a new roof next spring – the roofing company said they’d happily put Christmas lights on our roof while they’re up there, so between now and then I’ll be finding the best outdoor year-round lights to make that happen.

That’ll be one welcome addition to the outside decorating, our house has the best roof lines for putting Christmas lights on, only the hubby is afraid of heights, so we’ve never done it – not even the lowest levels, so getting ones that can weather all kinds of weather and stay up year-round controlled by a remote will be the perfect solution.

Christmas is coming!

  1. Heeheehee! Excellent. We just give cash gifts to the kids, and that’s it. It makes life simpler, but boy do I miss the toy days sometimes.
