Tuesday has arrived once again – since these weeks seem to be flying by, I’m leaving this counter up so we can keep an eye on how much time we have left before Christmas…mwahahahaha!
So, as I’ve mentioned, the third weekend in June every year our tiny town celebrates “Egg Days”, which started in 1921. There was an amazing turnout of people for this year’s event over the weekend – the Egg Day Court (The Royalty Court was introduced in 1937) had a ceremony on Friday evening, where the Queen (a student at the local high school) was crowned:
She’ll be representing our tiny town at various events throughout the year. One of the biggest draws for this annual event is the parade – back in 1939-1940 this is what the start of the parade looked like:
This year’s beginning of the parade:
Same building in the background – the Winlock Historical Museum is housed in the former Fire Station. Pretty wild, no? No shot of the egg float, but it looked the same as last year:
The weather cooperated – not too hot, and not too cold, and most importantly – no rain. We had over 80 vendors set up on the Elementary school field, so we wandered aimlessly and picked up a few cool things.
Speaking of picking up cool things – I can finally reveal the ‘shenanigans’ we were up to over Memorial Day weekend. We added another furbaby to our pack! Meet Ted Mosby, aka “Teddy”:
That was the day we picked him up – he had just spent some quality time at a dog park – where we met his previous owners – to see if he’d be an awesome addition to our family. He was and is! He is a sweetheart – the previous owners needed to rehome him, as they originally planned to breed him (he’s a purebred Goldendoodle) but she found out she was pregnant, and was having a tough time with him being ‘too much dog’ for where they live (no yard) and having to take him to a dog park every day, while having extreme morning sickness. He’s the exact same height as Max is, though he needs to be fattened up to catch up in the girth department…heh!
He has assimilated nicely, he and Max are best friends already (funny that we now have two ‘doodles’ in our house – Max is a Labradoodle, Teddy is a Goldendoodle, and Teddy is only 6-1/2 months younger than Max). The previous owner asked me to send a video of them playing before she would transfer ownership by contract over to me, so I happily complied:
I’ll take more pics, I haven’t done that yet, I wanted to resist the urge to share his addition until after our oldest came home from being gone with friends for a month – we wanted it to be a surprise, especially when you look at Teddy and Max side-by-side, they look like twins (aside from their coloring). It was worth the wait, when Max and Teddy were barking out the front window upon the glorious return of our oldest, the comment was made it looked like our printer ran out of toner when Teddy was printed. I love that description!
Teddy has gotten used to our daily routine, and loves to run around in the backyard with Max (and even Reddington and Pepper get into the mix of play). He’s never seen a cat before, so we were initially concerned about that, but he doesn’t seem to care about the cats (the feeling is apparently mutual). He does greet them if they allow him to, sniffing their faces and wagging his tail. Perfect harmony!
Time to dive into the funnies! This cracked me up:
