Well, here we are my friends – the last Tuesday of the month! And guess what?! We’re finally going to see some bonafide spring weather this week! Starting today (Tuesday), the sun will finally be shining! And, if the forecast keeps its promise, it’ll actually hit 83 degrees on Friday! Then it’ll settle back down again with a few days of showers and temps in the 60s-70s, which is perfect spring weather. Mother Nature be warned, though:
So, you remember we got a rescue Nehi Saint Bernard back in July 2021? Here’s a reminder – this is Peppermint Patty:
Sheesh! That was even before we had our deck rebuilt! Isn’t she just adorable? She’s been the best dog ever, such a sweetie. We were told that she was about 2 years old when we got her, which tracks. The only drawback is that she wasn’t fixed, so every 6 months since her arrival, when she goes into heat, she harasses poor Raymond Reddington and Maxwell Smart (both fixed) annoyingly so.
We’d been on a waitlist with our local vet to get her fixed – since day one. Unfortunately, during covid they lost the only vet in their office that fixes female dogs, they only had the capacity to fix male dogs. We finally found a vet an hour away that would be able to get her in long before all other local vets were 6-8+ months out. So last Friday, the deed was done:
Poor little precious! And yes, she has a green forehead – the hubby likes to colorize the dogs and cats with (harmless) washable hair tint. 😉 She’s doing amazingly well, though, aside from not really having much of an appetite. Luckily she’ll eat the cut up hot dogs I bury her medication in, but her aversion to eating anything else was concerning, since the vet said to make sure to keep an eye on her, and let them know if she doesn’t poop. I decided I better pick up some cans of wet dog food to see if she’d get some nourishment – she gobbled it down, so now we’re in the hurry-up-and-wait for you-know-what…heh!
She’s doing really well, though, she hasn’t had to wear her cone of shame constantly, she pretty much camps out at my feet when I’m working on my computer and snoozes the day away, eagerly goes outside with the boy doggies when I take them out periodically throughout the day. Yesterday she was acting more like her old self again, and she hasn’t ripped out any stitches, so I call that a win.
Now we just wait for the 💩.
