Final Monday of January – someone please find that ‘pause’ button! Meanwhile it’s Monday, and you know that Monday means music! This week is a freebie week, so grab your favorite tune(s) and come dance with us, will you?

Let’s start with an artist who is feeling good and ready to savor every moment with a “giddy up” in her step. After leaving her heart at a dive bar in Ohio, she sets off on a cross-country journey. This life-affirming anthem is the opening track of this artist’s new album. She wanted to create a joyful atmosphere and get the listeners ready for some fun. She compared the song’s celebratory tone to the iconic first line of her 1997 hit “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!.” She said:

“The saying ‘Let’s go, girls!’ is such a wonderfully uplifting sentiment now, but it’s just something I said during the recording in the studio and I guess that’s the same for ‘Giddy Up!’ These lines come to me when I’m thinking about how to put a little pep in my step. I want people to feel good when they hear the new album.”

It is likely that the expression “giddy up” originated as a shortened form of the phrase “get ye up,” which was used to encourage a horse to stand up after lying down. Over time, the phrase came to be used more generally to encourage a horse to move forward, and it is now used to urge a horse on while riding or driving. The expression is also used to encourage or motivate someone or something to get moving or to hurry up.

Next up, this country superstar recently released a single that he says is his favorite on the album:

“This is my favorite song from the album. I wrote it from a personal perspective, but I think it will resonate with a lot of people. It’s about how none of us are perfect, and how lucky we are to have those people in our lives who show up and love us despite our flaws. I often look at my wife and think she’s truly an angel, for the love and grace she shows me every single day.”

Get ready for goosebumps, here’s Thomas Rhett with “Angels (Don’t Always Have Wings)”:

Next up, at the start of this song, this artist is dancing with a love interest in a club. It’s crowded and they’ve got no room to move, so he suggests throwing her a private dance party out in the country. He tells her they’ll have such a great time, she won’t want to leave.

The artist took inspiration for the upbeat song from the dance parties he has with his wife and three children. It became a nightly tradition in their household to go in the playroom, turn on the party lights and make some moves as a family. He said:

“We’ve been having these dance parties every night at my house after dinner with our three kids, so I was sort of in that headspace of ‘Let’s just make some fun music.'”

Get ready to dance, here’s Tyler Hubbard with “Dancin’ In The Country”:

Last, but certainly not least, I shared this two years ago when it came out (wow, has it been that long?) but thought I’d share it again – I don’t know if any of you fans of this artist heard about his horrible snow plow accident on New Years Day – 30+ broken bones! Amazingly he survived, and is home on the long road to recovery. When I was looking for songs to share for this week, this one popped back up, so I thought why not?

The artist is using music to unite fans during trying times. The actor, turned musician, dropped a new album during COVID quarantine amid the outbreak. He was quoted as saying:

“I’ve always found music to be one of the few things that unite people in a pure way. Common ground can be hard to find in today’s world, but music has remained a constant for me. To feel deeply, to dance fervently, and to live together is more present now than ever.”

The song doesn’t have much written about it, but it’s clear it’s about his precious young daughter – and the video is awesome with clips of the two of them together.

Without further ado, here’s Jeremy Renner with “Best Part of Me”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday! See you on the dance floor!

  1. Hey Stacy,

I got tickled with Tyler Hubbard’s music video. Terry Cruze as a hulk dancing country with the little guy. Kinda reminded of the scene from West Side Story where the two street gangs were going head to head. Jeremy Renner as a singer was quite the discovery and a nice surprise. The thing about 4M is I’m always sure to find new tunes and artists each week. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, my friend. Have a boogietastic week! 😉

  2. Awesome playlist this morning. Shania still has it going on, Thomas can still make you feel every lyric, Tyler just has to be a fun person to be around and the intro to Jeremy Renner’s song is priceless. I did like Tyler Hubbard’s song the best. Maybe I just needed a light hearted start to my day. Have a blessed week.

  3. I’m not a cou try fan but I did enjoy these musical pieces of joy. Shania os a fav of mine to be honest and I didn’t know Jeremy Renner could sing. The deep snow saved him! Now he xan watch his little girl grow up. I always liked this actor and I liked that song.

  4. I did hear about Jeremy Renner’s snowplow accident and I understand he was trying to help someone else when it happened. That beginning to his video with his daughter tap dancing was so precious, and it only got better in the segment where he was chasing her while she was turning cartwheels. My favorite song of the set, though, was Shania Twain’s. I’m not the biggest country fan but that song was so full of joy! And her including a person who uses a wheelchair in the dancing deserves a big thumbs up for that video.
