It’s Tuesday already? The days have sort of been blurring together since last Friday, to be honest. The weekend was a doozy, I tell ya! Friday morning around 10am, our oldest (formerly known as Princess Nagger) ended up in Urgent Care with severe abdominal pain and vomiting, and it wasn’t appendicitis since it was presenting on the wrong side.

Something’s been up for a couple of months, the pain tended to come and go, so we figured it was perhaps related to diet and exercise. Boy, were we wrong! Friday the pain arrived again with a vengeance, then the vomiting really indicated something was waaaaaay off, so Urgent Care was definitely in order.

Now, let me tell you about this particular urgent care – they apparently had a ransomware attack recently, so their computers were not functioning. Add to that, the lack of people actually working (it’s been a rough time since Covid, that’s for sure) things moved at a snails pace.

Test after test were conducted – at first they thought it was pancreatitis, since the pancreas was enlarged and not looking so good, but then they noticed pockets of fluid throughout the abdomen, so they decided to take a look at the gallbladder. That was the major culprit – gall stones and the gallbladder was looking, well, not so good. It was affecting the pancreas and the liver.

I had my gallbladder removed after years of suffering and not knowing what was wrong with me until I finally saw a doctor who figured out what the stabbing pain was that I’d get that had been going on for years. When he removed my gallbladder, he said it was probably one of the worst ones he’s ever seen, and he was amazed I didn’t have bigger issues because of it.

Sucks when we pass on hereditary things to our kids, doesn’t it? Of course I didn’t think the affect would be passed down at this young age. The Urgent Care called around all over looking for a bed for a transfer – it took 26 hours before admission (the suckiest part was sitting and waaaaaaiiiiitttttiiiiinnnnnggggg all that time in the ER waiting room, especially when all the crazy people started coming in after midnight).

Another 21 hours after admission before they could do the surgery. Poor thing was starving, hadn’t eaten anything since Friday morning but had to wait until after surgery. So by the time food was allowed, it was well over 52 hours. Ugh.

Made it through surgery like a champ and is doing well now, though, and we’ll be glad the mystery pain will finally be gone. OK, enough of the emotional and mental drainage – let’s move onto the funnies, shall we?

  1. Poor child! It hurts us when our children hurt so much. I’m glad she is feeling better.

Thanks for the great funnies, we owned a rental once and know how blessed we were that it didn’t get torn up.

  2. I’m glad your daughter is now on the mend after months of on/off pain. That’s how those things work sometimes. Unfortunately, hereditary things passing down the line can’t be prevented. We’ll keep her in our prayers. I enjoyed your selection of humor. I had to giggle a little with the chicken bringing the sick chicken ‘tomato soup’. We have one of those ancient GPS. The thing is it, we can’t get it to stick on the car dash very well. lol Enjoy your week!
