Well, hello Tuesday! It is Tuesday, right? Rarely do I work over the weekend, but I had a client that really needed my assistance as he decided late last week that he was going to treat his crew to a day at Disneyland. YESTERDAY. 100 tickets were needed to be secured – and since the group office at Disney needs 30-60 days in advance to coordinate that large of a group, I had to go the ‘retail’ route buying 10 tickets at a time. Only their system decided that 30 was enough, as any time I tried to buy more, I’d get an error message.

I never spent so much time on hold listening to Disney ads and Disney music in my life.

There was concern that they would get sold out before I could secure all the tickets – I made multiple phone calls to Disney’s ticket department as well as the group office on the off-chance that someone somewhere would be able to override whatever flag was being thrown up (it wasn’t my client’s credit card company, we already checked and were cleared for the expense) but kept hitting dead ends.

I finally found a third-party seller where I was able to purchase the final 70 tickets through them. But they gave me cause for concern when their confirmation verbiage with the 70 vouchers said that the actual tickets would be sent in 4 hours. 21 hours later I was contacting them trying to find out the status of the 70 tickets.

I also tried to see if more tickets could be purchased on the Disney website, but the 13th was now grayed out as unavailable. I was hoping and praying that the reason for that was my final purchase of the remaining 70 tickets the day before, but until I had them in my hands (electronically) I was stressing a little.

Finally, Saturday morning I received a final confirmation email with all 70 (legit) tickets in my inbox. If you heard someone shout “Hallelujah” Saturday morning, that was me. So, Saturday, after my semi-monthly grocery shopping, I got busy connecting all those tickets to my clients Disney account and confirming reservations for the 13th.

Then Sunday I had to organize the PDF docs to send them to all the staff members so they could connect their assigned tickets to their Disney accounts so when they arrive at the park, they can get checked in quickly and efficiently. So. Many. Hours. Of work. I’m beat! But then my client surprised me and gave me tickets for my family since he had me snag a few extras. We’ll be going to Disneyland – not at the same time as them, the tickets are apparently good until the end of this year, so we’ll be planning something in the fall for sure.

  1. Organic bell pepper instead of roses, too funny! The rainbow frog and the paint gun, too. Thank you.
