Hello my awesome random peeps! May has arrived! So glad you honor me with your participation, even when I’m so easily distracted by shiny objects and visit sporadically.

Crazy that it’s a new month already! Sunday was May Day – when I was a kid, we used to make conical vases with construction paper and ribbon, then fill them with fresh flowers from our flower beds (I’m pretty sure my mom gave  permission) then go hang them on our neighbors front door, ring the bell and run away – but hide nearby so we could watch their happy faces with the surprise May Day flowers.

Something like this:

Seems May Day has changed over the years, though – now it’s International Worker’s Day instead, though I think some European countries still do the May Day celebrations (dancing around the maypole and whatnot). I’m pretty sure the flowers to the neighbors fun was passed down from my Swedish great-grandmother, she loved all the old Scandinavian traditions I still love to reminisce about as well as practice with my kids.

I’m sure I’m forgetting to tell you some stuff – my brain is kinda fried since I ended up working over the weekend to help out a client with a publisher deadline for the book she and her partner have been working on for quite some time. It’s been a while since I’ve actually burned the midnight oil – my steam fizzled out when it hit 1:00am Saturday morning after a full day of nose-to-the-grindstone on Friday.

Luckily finished up my part Saturday night so I could take it easy on Sunday. Who am I kidding? Because I was so ensconced with the book edits at the end of the week into the weekend, I had some catching up to do on some work for my other clients, so I got some stuff done on Sunday to finish up on Monday and hopefully not start the week behind too much.

At least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and it isn’t a train!
