Kicking off April with a One-Two Punch Winter Storm, Leaky Roof and Random Funnies: Random Tuesday Thoughts

April has arrived – and of course Mother Nature is playing games, as we are experiencing what the weather people call a one-two punch of a winter storm here in the Pacific Northwest. For here in the ‘lowlands’ that means lots of wind and rain, and the prediction of the ever-elusive thunderstorms Monday afternoon.

You read that right – thunderstorms in this area are fairly rare, not like the commonality of the ones we’d get in Pennsylvania when we lived there. The hubby and I always loved to watch the thunderstorms roll in out there – so we kinda like them when they roll in here once-in-a-blue-moon. There was no blue moon, however, as those predicted thunderstorms never materialized here – though those that are they are predicting we’ll get some on Thursday. I’ll keep you posted.

The first part of the one-two punch storm sure was a doozy – the wind was howling like crazy, and the rain was coming down in buckets. Unfortunately Monday morning we discovered that there appears to be a leak in the roof – into our teen’s room. Yay.

Apparently it only happens when it’s raining really hard  (found out this is the second  time – would have loved to been informed when it happened the first time – teens, I tellya!) so hopefully it’s a ‘simple’ fix where a dormer meets the main roof, which connects directly above that room. Of course ‘simple’ is probably not in any roofer’s vocabulary. I’ll keep you posted on that, too.

Our new internet was certainly given a run for its money – held through all the wind storms like a champ! If still on CenturyLink, you can be sure that the internet would have been cutting out randomly throughout the day, or died completely, or we would have had to reboot the modem during the storm a zillion times. And still would have had spotty connection. I’m so glad there was finally an alternative in our sparse area!

Since the wind is howling for another few hours and there’s always a chance of losing power, let’s to the funnies, m’kay?

About StacyUncorked

After 20+ years in the Corporate World and years of infertility, Stacy was surprised when Princess Nagger made her miraculous appearance - deciding to forgo the career and stay home was a no-brainer. As if her hands weren't full enough, 8 years later she and her husband added Little Dude through adoption, adding a whole new dimension (of crazy) to their family and even more sleepless nights. When she’s not refereeing kids, dogs and cats, she loves to write, hence the reason she decided to start her little blog, and because she never got a baby book to mark milestones, this was the next best thing. She also enjoys doing reviews and giveaways for products she or her family would willingly use and can stand behind. She loves to cook and try new techniques to turn ordinary into extraordinary. Crafty by nature, she takes on a lot of unique projects and enjoy seeing the end result. Her favorite, of course, is making her award winning wine out of fruits and grapes. Experiments with water currently underway.
