Well hello, Tuesday!  It’s only the second Tuesday of the month, but it sure feels like it should be later in the month? Anyone else feel that way right about now? Just me?

Remember all the beautiful snow we got between Christmas and New Year? It was so pretty:

Well, last week the rains returned with a vengeance, and not only erased all the pretty snow, but gave us more headaches. Friday was a stressful day, there was a lot of local flooding, a bunch of landslides – so much so that the trains didn’t run for a number of hours due to a landslide on the tracks further south.

In addition to that, a 20-mile stretch of I-5 was closed both north and southbound, just north of where we live for about 5 or 6 hours on Friday – water was covering the right lanes, and there was concern that the major flooding that was taking place in towns just north of us would do a repeat of the major flood that happened in 2007, where that section of freeway was completely submerged for days.

Thankfully the freeway didn’t have to be closed for several days (many of the on and off-ramps were closed due to flooding, though), but the rain stopped earlier than anticipated, and the overflowing rivers in the area started receding sooner than expected. whew! I’m so glad we live on a hill, but hopefully our hill doesn’t ultimately become unstable and landslide into the neighbor’s house below at some point.

This is just about 6 miles or so north of where we live, the ‘back way’ I usually go for grocery shopping:

This was before the rivers fully crested, so it got worse before it got better. Pretty scary, no?

Let’s move on to the funnies, shall we? Let’s start with some funny embarrassing moments – people were asked to offer up their most embarrassing moments, I was laughing so hard at some of them I was crying (I’ll share some of them this week, and more next week):

This is hilarious:

This cracked me up:

  1. My sympathy on the flooding, we’ve been there down in these swamps and it is scary.

You made my day with these funnies!

  2. Anytime I see the word “bastard” in a meme like that, I just have to keep it.

That last one pretty much defines communication between Mary and me.
