We have arrived at yet another Tuesday – funny how they seem to come ’round with regularity, right? Is it just me, or do ‘short’ weeks seem so much longer than ‘regular’ weeks? Last week was a ‘short’ week, but cramming 5 days worth of work into 4 made it seem extra long.
So I have some exciting news – I’ve decided to get Lasik surgery. I’ve been nearsighted since about Jr. High – inherited bad eyesight from my mom. All of us kids at one time or another ended up with glasses – I was the last holdout and have the ‘best’ vision of all us kids. Well, except for my brother, who had Lasik years ago when they first started offering it, but his vision was worse than mine before then.
My mom, whose eyesight was so bad she had to get within 2-inches of the big ‘E’ to see it clearly, had cataract surgery a few years ago – it was weird not seeing her with glasses at first, after seeing her with them my entire life. She’s very happy about not having to deal with glasses anymore, that’s for sure.
Every year at my annual eye exam I keep asking (hopefully) if cataracts are forming. The answer is always 1) I’m too young yet to worry about it, and 2) my eyes are too healthy. So since it appears I have years to wait for the ‘medically necessary’ surgery that insurance will cover, I’ll opt for the much less expensive Lasik instead. My left eye is literally three-times worse than my right eye, so you can imagine the imbalance of vision I’ve dealt with.
Creates a whole different ‘dizzy blonde’ mode…heh!
I used to wear contacts all the time, but the air quality in Pennsylvania took its toll after a while, and I switched back to just wearing glasses. I thought about switching back after we moved back here to the PNW, but just haven’t done it. For any of you who wear glasses, it’s crazy how expensive they’ve become! Granted, it’ll take some years for the Lasik to ‘pay for itself’ by way of not having to buy new glasses each year, but just the thought of not having to is enough for me. How’s your vision?
Enough about that – let’s jump into the funnies, shall we?

The proof – the empty hand – priceless! You will love your eyesight after Lasik! Mine lasted a good 15 years before my eyesight started getting worse due to age (need those reading glasses). It was so worth it!
Stacy,
Best of luck with the Lasik! DH is really near-sighted. When he had the detached retina four years ago, the doctor said near-sighted people, especially those who have a strong correction are more susceptible to this type of eye problem. The reattachment process accelerates the need for cataract surgery in the one eye and it made a huge improvement in his vision. Of course, even when eventually needs the other eye done he will still need glasses. I enjoyed your funnies, especially the last two. 😀 Have a funtastic day, my friend!
Great memes. Thanks for sharing them.
Since i only wear glasses to drive, surgery doesn’t seem needed, but like you, i want cataract surgery. Everything is dimmer than it used to be.
Thanks for the great funnies!
