First official Tuesday of July! We survived our extreme ‘heat event’ last week – on the hottest day, it was 112 degrees with the ‘feels like’ temperature of 145! That is downright CRAZY. It was way too hot to do much, that’s for sure! Even my basement office got too warm for comfort. The window A/C units in our bedrooms were working overtime (as will be evidenced by our next electric bill, I’m sure) and barely kept the bedrooms cool enough to sleep.
So thankful that’s passed, and the next few weeks are going to be ‘normal’ summer weather. No rain, so if ever you wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest when it’s not raining, now’s your chance!
Hope you all had a safe and Happy 4th of July! Because of it being so hot and dry here we decided not to buy fireworks this year to keep fire issues at a minimum. The benefit of living up on a hill with a great view of the town is we get to watch everyone else’s fireworks. 😉 And I must say, it was quite the show!
Of course the dogs hated every minute of it, poor things. They hid under my desk (well, Reddington did, since he’s small enough – Maxwell tried to shrink himself as small as possible and wedged himself between my chair and desk). Thankfully the noise of fireworks only happens a few times a year.
The hubby had a good idea though – if fireworks happened all the time, the dogs would get used to it. Like the sound of the trains in town – they were scared by the train horns when we first moved in, now they don’t even pay attention (or freak out). Wonder if that would be true with fireworks? Something to ponder…
