Hello Tuesday! Today continues the extreme heat here in the Pacific Northwest (I know, hard to fathom it’s not raining). Saturday saw temps over 100 degrees, yesterday’s high hit 109 with the ‘feels like’ temperature of 120-something degrees. Today’s high is expected to hit 112 degrees – figuring out the math, the ‘feels like’ temperature will be hellish. Since our house was built in 1930, we don’t have central air – one caveat of having a penchant for old houses. Research about potentially getting central air is already in motion, believe me.
This is what the 10-day forecast looked like on Friday:
Of course the numbers kept going up when I looked again on Saturday – this is what the temperature was Sunday afternoon:
And as I’m typing this post (since I know I’m not going to be able to tolerate the heat in the basement later today) this is what the current temperature is:
The ‘high’ hasn’t even been reached yet, that’ll hit around dinnertime. You can bet we’re ‘grazing’ this evening, as I ascend the stairs from the basement to the kitchen, it progressively gets hotter. Can’t imagine the scorching heat that will be my kitchen around dinnertime. C.R.A.Z.Y.
Oh, here’s the update just before 5pm PDT on Monday:
We still have an hour of rising temps to deal with before they’ll slowly subside. But I take great hope in the verbiage about the forecast being much cooler tomorrow than today. Thank goodness!
Granted, we do tend to get hot weather for a few days up to a week that get into the low-to-mid 90s… but that usually doesn’t happen until August. This June business? Not cool. Literally and figuratively speaking. Tomorrow (Tuesday) will be a ‘cooler’ day, though, with a high predicted of 90, then Wednesday we’ll finally be back within a ‘normal’ range of 80s, which is still higher than ‘normal’ for this time of year, but I’ll certainly take that over the above-100 degrees the past few days.
It may be hot here, but this faux pas for a town east of the mountains must be roasting:
This cracked me up:

That is crazy hot! Texas is hot now and getting hotter. Loved your funnies, especially the popcorn!
Weather’s been unsually temperate here in the normally sunny South. In fact, the weather here’s closer to what you get there.
We’re getting the rain almost every day, and our temps are hot but nothing like up there.
Thanks for the laughs, next time i need to move a wall i’ll remember that tip!
Nice laughs and I hope it is cooler for you.
