We have reached the final week, the final Tuesday of 2020.
I hope you all had a great Christmas, or whatever holiday you observe. We had a very low key Christmas, of course – didn’t do our ‘usual’ stuff, because, well, covid. We’re planning to (hopefully) have Christmas in July with my brother and his family, so there’s something to look forward to for sure.
You know, I never did get the ornaments on the tree, but that’s OK. My mojo has been missing for a while, so I think my New Year’s resolution will be to find my mojo. Or some semblance of it, anyway.
I’ve pretty much been phoning it in here on my blog since our big move in 2012, where we were subjected to being basement dwellers in my parent’s house for 5 months, then our ‘in between’ house just wasn’t ‘the one’, so three more years passed with missing mojo, then another move to our current house, which has the space we need, and then some, plus lots more charm than our ‘inbetween’ house (though not quite as much charm as our 1817 farmhouse had back in PA, of course, but this 1930 house has its own charm for sure).
We’re coming up on 4 years since we moved into this house, and I still have stacks’o’boxes that need to be purged and/or put away. I still need to set up my winemaking room (I know! Crazy!) but I have been shopping for a stainless steel table (vs. cabinets and countertop) and stainless steel laundry-type sink, since my winemaking room is plumbed for a kitchen, so cleaning and sanitizing bottles and carboys will be way more convenient than schlepping them up and down the stairs to and from the kitchen.
So the first part of 2021 is going to be a mega purging time, and getting my winemaking room, my craft room/office, and the guest room all set up – and finally get rid of those stacks’o’boxes. I’ll definitely take some before and after pics – there’s going to be a transformation around here, mark my words!
I’m also in the middle of rebranding – since Princess Nagger has decided she identifies as a boy, and wants to change her name (and pronouns), rebranding my website and winemaking labels and such are necessary to thwart anxiety all around. I’ve decided to go with “Wine and Deer” or “Deer and Wine” – any preference from you guys? Which one sounds better? It’s a toss-up for me, so I bought both domain names last Christmas to be on the safe side.
I actually need to redo all my websites, because I think they all have flash – which will be defunct as of Thursday. I know, right? But they also haven’t been updated since before 2012, and definitely need an overhaul. Things certainly have changed since I started blogging way back in ’08. Holy moly! Has it been 12 years?! Time sure flies!
When I started blogging way back then, a bloggy friend, Slón Nelson-Bentley was blogging as “Mom in High Heels”, but she exited the blogging world for quite a while, though we remained friends IRL and via Facebook. She messaged me yesterday to let me know she’s returning to the land of blogging! Woot! I’m excited to see her get back to it, she’s fun to read, that’s for sure.
Her new blog is called “A Day in the Life” with the tagline: “Just a semi-average lady, trying to make it through the day”. Love it! She’s promised to join us here on Random Tuesdays when she’s back in the swing of things – might be a few weeks out, because she and her hubby finally bought a house. I’m bummed that it’s not here in WA, they are settling in VA after many years moving around by way of the military, but at least our virtual friendship will last forever!
Anyone else looking forward to seeing 2020 out on its ear? Of course there’s this to ponder:

I love the briefcase pun! And that dog! Hilarious! Rebranding…. that’s gonna take some time and effort, I bet. Take care and happy new year!
That pictorial shopping list would have come in handy on a couple of occasions, like the time Mary wanted puff pastry shells but forgot what they were called…
I especially liked the one about calling someone and hoping they weren’t in. I hate talking on the phone.
And I remember the “free U2 album” incident…
Your words are marked, and i know you can do it.
Thanks for the funnies, and here’s to another year!
Thanks for hosting and Happy New Year to you and your family.
I’m also back in the blogging world! I’ve actually had this blog for a year and every day thought “I should be writing” but I never did. That changed yesterday! I finally got the design I want, I’m thinking about importing my old blog but I also might just want a fresh start. I want to start reading other blogs again, to connect with people better. Kicking it old school!
Rebranding and purging – right now I need to do some of my own but just not getting the mental energy for same. Hoping you do better. Several of these were really funny – the 2020 won I hadn’t seen and that one is a keeper, along with the dog pulling the sled and the pigeon wings. Gave me a nice laugh for the afternoon!
