Can you believe there’s only 2 weeks left of August? I’m not gonna lie, I’m looking forward to fall, since it happens to be my favorite season. We’ve been having yet another heat wave here in the Pacific Northwest – Sunday was sandwiched by 90+ degree weather, but Sunday certainly took the cake on heat:
Crazy, no? Take that all those that think it rains All. The. Time. here in the PNW. No, really – take the heat, I’d rather have rain (and a cool-down) right about now. Luckily it’s supposed to be about 10-degrees cooler tomorrow. Me and the puppies will be happy about that during our trips outside! Well, you know, the furbabies trips outside – I don’t need a trip outside, except to go out and keep them company. Ahem.
Today happens to be my older sister and my aunt’s birthday! Funny, all us kids happen to share a birthday with someone – for my sister Kimn, it’s with Aunt Susie. For me, it was my favorite grandmother, Vashti. For my brother and sister – each other, since they’re twins. Pretty wild, no? So this is a pic of my big sis shortly after I was born, grinning from ear to ear, ready to start bossing me around:
I kid, I kid! While we didn’t always see eye-to-eye growing up, and I don’t call her near enough as much as I should, we are not only sisters, we’re friends and I love her to pieces. She doesn’t read my blog (I really should get on her about that), but I am so grateful she’s my big sister, and wish she didn’t live in godforsaken Kansas instead of here with me.
Oh, and here’s a pic I stole off her Facebook page, since all my pics are stuck on a dead auxiliary drive – sure, it’s from 2012, but she still looks the same:
Happy Birthday, Kimn, love you bunches!
Sharing this most auspicious day is one of my favorite aunts – while everyone else calls her ‘Susan’, she’ll always be Aunt Susie to me – I grabbed this picture of her from 2015 from her Facebook page, because she looks pretty much the same, and she’s wearing her Seahawks jersey (bonus!):
She has been like a second mother to me – you know, always telling me what to do… Kidding!! Seriously, though, she’s been there through thick and thin, and unwavering, even when I piss her off or she pisses me off, we always have each other’s back. 😉 Happy Birthday, Aunt Susie!
OK, now that I’m running late yet again, let’s move on to the funnies, shall we?

Happy birthday to all the celebrants! I can’t believe how hot it is there. We had our highest heat yesterday at 102. I’m sure there’s more to come on that! Karens! HOA. True! Loved your funnies!
Wishing many happy returns of the day to your sister and your aunt! Our family has a similar story, with many of us sharing birthdays with those from a previous generation.
Loved the funnies, especially about the HOA. That’s one big reason i never want to live in such a neighborhood. My term for them has always been “All those Mrs. Barney Fifes!”
104? You usually don’t get that many degrees in a week…
Love these memes. I so want to steal them. Very nice.
