Do you still have cable or satellite? If the answer is ‘yes’, how are you liking that ever-increasing monthly charge? We got tired of the price always going up and up, so we cut the cord about 5+ years ago, and haven’t looked back!
I talked my aunt into ditching her satellite service, and she couldn’t be happier with her options to stream her favorite shows. And yes, I’ve become her tech guru when it comes to her buying new ways to stream…heh! Lots of people choose to upgrade their TVs when they cut their cable, but you really don’t have to.
Seriously! You can turn that DumbTV into a SmartTV by using things like this newest version of Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player:
Trust me, this tiny little device packs a big punch! Chromecast is designed to make the most of the apps and entertainment. Watch movies, shows, live TV, YouTube, and photos streaming on your TV from all your family’s devices.¹
Plug Chromecast into the HDMI port on your TV to power and stream your favorite entertainment right from your phone with just a tap. Watch your favorite shows, listen to playlists, and more. While streaming, you can still use your phone as you normally do. How cool is that?
Google Chromecast works with the streaming apps you already know and love.
Enjoy TV shows, movies, videos, songs, games, sports and more from over 2000 apps like Netflix, YouTube, YouTube TV, and HBO NOW. Find more at g.co/chromecast/¹
Chromecast also allows you to start streaming with just your voice. You heard that right! (see what I did there?) This is voice powered, too! Just say what you want to watch from compatible apps and control your TV hands-free, with Chromecast and Google Home working seamlessly together.²
“Ok Google, play Green Arrow on Netflix on my living room TV.” ¹
Thanks to Chromecast’s high speed, wireless connectivity, you can seamlessly stream all of your favorite music, movies, and more. Chromecast offers built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi connects to the Internet through your wireless home network. (wireless router required and sold separately)
Upgrade your TV for less
Expand your home entertainment without buying a new TV. It’s so affordable you can get one for every TV in the house. How is that possible?! you ask… Google Chromecast is only around $35, so upgrading all of your existing TVs won’t break the bank!
Please note: Web-based services and content require existing, high-speed Internet service. Some services, such as Netflix or Hulu, may require a subscription (but trust me, it’s still cheaper than paying for cable or satellite!). Once you get those set up, Google Chromecast can stream them all flawlessly!
You can purchase Google Chromecast or learn more about this product at your local Best Buy store. With its affordable price, this would make an awesome Holiday gift!
¹ Subscriptions are required to view some content.
² Google Home, Chromecast, and compatible content required to cast to a TV using Google Home.
Are you a cord-cutter yet? And if so, what are your favorite ways to stream your favorite shows?

Love my Chromecast! Also, just because you have a smart tv (I do) doesn’t mean it will get all the apps you need. On mine, I can’t get free-standing premium channels, CBS Prime or any other network app for that matter. I love the fact that if I can get it on my phone, I can cast it to my Chromecast and watch it on my TV.
I previously had a Roku stick, and passed that to my son when I got the Chromecast. I like both, but think I like the Chromecast better.
We’ve never had cable or satellite as we always felt the expense was so much more than what it was actually worth. We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE streaming though. We probably watch less TV than what we used to, but we love the shows we do watch. No more wasting our precious leisure time watching boring shows that we’re only partly interested in! Yay! 🙂
