Well hello, Tuesday! In case you hadn’t heard, we were in the midst of winter last week (finally)! While snow in the Pacific Northwest is fairly rare (except in the mountains), we had quite a few snow days last week – while our hill gives us a great view of the tiny town, it is not forgiving when it’s icy and snowy, so my car stayed parked in our driveway the entire week, and on the days that Little Dude actually had school, Princess Nagger was nominated to walk him to and from school.

Yes, I bribed her, why do you ask?

This was what 10% chance of precipitation looked like last Tuesday morning:

Our 10% morphed into 80% and later Travis was enjoying making doggy snow angels on the deck:

Of course Reddington wanted him to run around with him, so he interrupted him:

Which, as you can see, displeased the alpha-dog greatly…heh.

We ended up with about 6-inches of snow (as opposed to the 1-3 inches we were supposed to get). Don’t get me wrong – I’m not (and wasn’t) complaining, I love snow! School was dismissed early that day, naturally.

Of course the sun came out later in the day and melted most of it away, but then the temperature fell dramatically, more snow fell overnight, and early the next morning it looked like this:

After I took that picture, the clouds rolled back in, and it started snowing like crazy again, so the 2-hour school delay turned into a ‘now closed’. Another snow day!

It was crazy, though, because the sun came out for a period of time and melted some of it away, but then more snow blew in, and rendered the following day another snow day, too, because this happened:

Just when we thought we were in the clear, we got another round of it over the weekend. But now we’ve inched up temperature-wise, and the snowfall is being replaced with sporadic rainfall, so everything is melting away. Honestly I prefer snow over rain any day, at least the snow pretties things up a bit, whereas rain is just gray and drab.

But I am looking forward to spring – at least here, compared to when we lived in Pennsylvania, we’ll actually get spring, rather than speed from freezing winter temps straight to sweltering summer heat. I do not miss the heat and humidity! It can get hot here, too, during the summer months – but the one thing that is thankfully absent is the humidity. I have much better hair days here than I ever did in PA.

I’m even further behind this week because of the multiple unexpected snow days last week (kids being home throw a wrench in all plans) along with fighting with my computer with that notorious Blue Screen Of Death. I’ve been window shopping for a new computer – I’m going to have to just bite the bullet and get a new one, because the last thing I need to have happen is this computer to crash and never boot back up again.

Each time I get the BSOD (which is a daily occurrence, now, sometimes more than once!!) it takes longer and longer to boot up. So yeah, there’s something seriously wrong with it, so I’ve been backing up all my important stuff and looking for a replacement. Once I get a new one, I’ll restore this one to its factory settings and hope it cures what ails it so I can hand it off to Princess Nagger since, even in it’s limping along state, it is faster than the computer she’s currently using for her online school and drawing. So it’ll be a nice upgrade for her.

Provided, of course, I can get it functioning at 100% again, vs. the 25% it seems to be mocking me with.

Enough of all that – time for some funnies! I absolutely love this driving in the snow advice:

And this is a perfect winter fit:

When I saw this, I literally laughed out loud:

This cracked me up, too:

You know how there are advice-type things around about what a woman should and shouldn’t wear over a certain age (which I absolutely disagree with – to each her own!) but man, I loved this:

And I’m going to leave this right here for you:

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. Stacy,

Whew, snow! Our weather has been so spring-like for the most part the last two weeks but now we’re in a bit a cool down. I think we’ll still be above freezing, though. Hopefully, we won’t get any snow. I always worry just a little this time of year about getting another repeat of the Blizzard of 1993. *knock on wood* Ever since we made the move from Windows-based computers to Apple, we haven’t had the same problems with performance until it gets too old and full to function at top speed but even when it’s sluggish it’s still nowhere as slow as our expensive gaming Dell computer brand new. I’m not sure how the newer Windows operating system work. Best of luck to you getting everything successfully backed off and making a new computer purchase. That’s so tedious! Great giggles this morning. I laugh at the dad who passed the sheet a paper beneath his daughter’s door with the text dialogue. People in the south can’t drive in the snow but they think they can. They do not take into account that the road is wet and it’s cold enough to snow, so maybe there’s ice patches somewhere that they might hit. Won’t they be surprised when their vehicle does a 360 on the interstate, crossing multiple lanes crashing the whole world around them? That’s how the morons in the south drive …come to think about it this is a problem that’s rapidly spreading to all parts of the country because it makes no difference where we are we see this sort of driving pattern. Most people are idiots on the road today but that’s my humble opinion. I’m sure these said ‘idiots’ will disagree with me. 🙂 Thanks for hosting the random fun today!

  2. We had a whole lot more snow than usual this year, and the advice is spot on! It’s already hot enough that my Sweetie wants the A/C on. It’s still February!

Loved your funnies, and i agree those are things i do not want to wear (at any age).

  3. The snow looks so pretty. I love the one about pretending you are driving with Grandma in the car- everyone should drive like that in the snow 🙂

  4. Your blog always makes me laugh! I love the “text” message to the kid who got their phone taken away, and the little boy showing his dog the videos. LOL. I think I saw that snow comment from the weatherman somewhere. Oh! I have something about penguins on my post today. I almost didn’t notice one of them was a cat! I love all your snow. The pictures are so pretty. We will hit 80 degrees or more tomorrow.

  5. We’ve had a crappy winter here in IL and thankfully it’s gotten better temps this week. I’m sooo over winter. Those memes cracked me up, especially the one the dad wrote resembling a text.

  6. We had a snowstorm where I live in upstate New York today (along with most of the Northeast) so…well, it’s nice seeing snow but I, personally, can’t wait for winter to end.

  7. I really enjoyed your post! The snow has been crazy this year. It fell here in Seattle while my daughter was on mid-winter break, so she was already out of school. It was fun to enjoy the white winter though. Hopefully now it will warm on up! The funnies at the end cracked me up! I loved the kid training his dog, that was great. And the dad giving the text message to his daughter, that might just come in handy one day. Thanks for the laughs!
