Well, hello there! Guess what I decided to do for the first time ever? Participate in the A-Z Blogging Challenge for April! I know, right?!

It’s going to be a fun month, though – I’m looking forward to hopping around and meeting new people, and commiserating with bloggy friends I’ve known throughout the years of blogging thus far. I can’t believe it’s already been almost 9 years since I started this blog! For those of you who have been (patient) with me from the beginning, I thank you.

And to those who are just now discovering my little corner of the world, welcome! I apologize if you find some funky formatting on older posts (should you decide to browse back in time), there were some issues when I switched from Blogger to self-hosted many years ago, then there was a huge blog crash a year or so ago that caused images to simply disappear.

As I find them, I’m fixing them – so if you run across any, feel free to email me which post still needs fixing.

Meanwhile, let’s get this party started! The challenge itself doesn’t begin until April 1st (I know, I know, April Fool’s Day!) but today is the day to kick things off with the Theme Reveal. Are you ready? I bet those who know me will not be surprised at the theme I’ve chosen for this challenge….

Yeppers, some of you saw that coming, didn’t you? For the newbies, I’ve been making my own wine for a while – in fact, I’ve even entered it in the International Winemaker’s Competition and won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for my wines (and yes, the first year I entered three wines, I won a medal on only one – but got very helpful notes from the sommelier on the other two, which enabled me to make some changes and win medals all the subsequent years).

The last time I entered was 4 years ago right before we moved back to Washington State from Pennsylvania (two wines that year, which won me a gold and a silver medal), so I made sure now that we’ve moved to a house that will enable me to have a bonafide Winemaking room, I entered my latest batch of wines in this year’s competition. I’m in the hurry-up-and-wait mode until May or June when they finally announce the winners! I’ll keep you posted!

Meanwhile, if you want to learn more about me, you can read here. For those who are new to me and my blog, if you’re interested in finding out why I started making my own wine, you can read all about it here. And you might be interested in my very first batch that ended up as Wine Vinegarheh!

For those of you who have no clue what the A-Z Challenge is, you can click here to read all about it. If you want to have some mega fun throughout the month of April, here’s the calendar to get you started:

So there you have it! Get ready for a fun April all about wine! If you have any questions about the process, please do feel free to leave them in the comments, and I’ll do my best to answer! See you on April 1st!

  1. Stacy, Nah, I didn’t see this one coming! lol Actually, I really didn’t think about it until you mentioned it. 🙂 While I do not drink, it will be interesting to see what’s involved in this process. I hope you have lots of fun doing the challenge.

I invite you to visit Curious as a Cathy for a little mewsic and learn about my AprilA2Z challenge theme reveal!

    1. HA! I figured you’d be able to decipher what my theme might be, Cathy! 😉 Even non-drinkers will find the winemaking process fascinating – thanks for coming along for the ride! I look forward to following your A-Z journey as well! 🙂

  2. I can’t wait to read your posts for the A to Z Challenge. Winemaking! Wonderful. Perhaps I’ll learn something. I’d love to brew a beverage I so enjoy drinking.

    1. Thank you, Kalpanaa! If you decide to brew a beverage you so enjoy drinking, I would love to hear all about it! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by!

    1. Thank you, Arlee! Hopefully I’ll be able to educate with lots of fun! 😉 Thanks for stopping by – and good luck to you as well with the April challenge! 🙂

  3. Great theme! I’ve always wanted to learn more about how to make wine (and maybe, someday, even make some of my own), so I will be reading with interest. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Laura! Maybe I’ll be able to inspire you to make your own wine! 😉 To me, it’s a very fun process, though does take lots of patience (sometimes I’m not so good at the ‘hurry-up-and-wait’ mode…) Thank you so much for stopping by! 🙂

  4. This should be interesting! I’m a bit of a wine connoisseur (aka wine snob) and partake regularly. I hope you enjoy your first A to Z Challenge and come back again next year. This will be year # 4 for me. Cheers!

  5. Welcome to the challenge! I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time.
And you have quite a unique theme. Very intersting.

  6. I am so excited to see you participate this year. Perfect topic for you of course!
I have not drunk alcohol in quite a long time but I may have to drink a few glasses…er, um, bottles while I cheer you on. LOL

Cannot wait to see what you have for us!
