One more week before we’re officially in the ‘back to school’ schedule mode – this is the hubby’s last week of his summer break, with a smattering of meetings as they get ready for the return of students next week. So next week we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled program with drop-offs and pick-ups.

Glad the regular pick-ups haven’t yet started, because I lost my Karma.

Well, OK, it’s a Karma Go (portable WiFi) that helps me kill time in the parking lot of the school for pick-up rather than burning gas idling in the crazy car line and feeling my blood pressure rise with the line-cutters and the cars that park in the lot, then hold up the line backing out of their parking spaces and forming a secondary line that holds up the actual car line.

Confused, yet? Me too. It’s certifiably crazy how the line is set up at the elementary school, and each year it seems to get worse – probably with a whole slew of newbies who don’t know how to navigate the line (or those who don’t care, and just do whatever the hell they want in spite of the concise instructions posted on the school’s website).

So my way of getting around the craziness is to arrive at the school an hour before dismissal so I can be sure to get one of the prime real estate spots along the sidewalk at the front of the line. That way I can chill, have the car turned off so I’m not burning gas, and play games or catch up on Facebook until the mass exodus of rabble rousing kids at the last bell.

But since I choose not to have a ridiculously expensive cell phone plan that includes data, I rely on my Karma Go to keep me connected. I love it!

But since I didn’t use it much over the summer, it disappeared. Usually I keep it near the outlet in the kitchen where I keep my Fire Phone charged up, but alas, it wasn’t there.

Then I remembered I’d loaned it to Princess Nagger when she and the hubby were checking to see if they could use the portable WiFi to catch Pokemon’s. It didn’t work for them for some reason, so no Pokemon’s were captured. But that’s the last time I saw it, and I did distinctly remember that Princess Nagger handed it back to me. Then my brain blanked out on what I did with it next.

So I searched high and low, all the feasible places it might be (and even some unfeasible ones), even contacted Karma to have them deactivate the account while I searched, because I worried that maybe it fell out of the outside pocket of my purse while shopping.

But huzzah! I found it!

And yes, it turned out to be in an unconventional (and inconvenient) place – behind the fridge. It apparently fell off the counter and managed to slip in the not-so-big-gap between the fridge and the counter and nestle itself with some dust bunnies and Travis hair (since the dog hair is gray, and the felt cover for the Karma is gray, they blended in beautifully).

All is right with the world again, my Karma has been restored – which means I’ll be able to combat the boredom and stress of the pick-up line starting next week, and not feel like turning that car line into a demolition derby. Just sayin’.

Speaking of karma… This is hilariously perfect:

And I thought this was funny – I might need to get this mug:

It’s time once again for Leslie’s (aka Rory Bore) Tuesday Coffee Chat!

The question or prompt for this week is:

“Summer Lovin’ – Was there one moment that stood out this past summer, as one that you will cherish forever? One book you must recommend? Ice Cream flavour? Let us know!”

Oh man, I am not starting off the return of coffee chat very well – there is honestly no one moment that stood out this past summer that I’ll cherish forever, it was kind of a bust of a summer, unfortunately. Things happened, tempers flared, I’m actually looking forward to getting through the rest of 2016 and hope that 2017 will be a much better year.

I didn’t even get a chance to read any books this summer – which is highly unusual for me. And I’m not a big ice cream eater, so there’s nothing to report there. Oh, wait! Princess Nagger and I went to Dairy Queen after one of her orthodontist appointments to get a Blizzard – specifically a Cotton Candy Blizzard:

That is now our favorite summertime flavor. I’m looking forward to when they bring back the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard – every bite is a perfect pumpkin pie bite!

That’s a wrap for this week – you know the drill, link up and join in the fun, everyone is welcome, random or not. And that means even if you don’t have a specific Random Tuesday Thoughts Rebel post posted, you can still link up, I’m not picky. You don’t even have to add the badge, just link up so I can come harass you on your blog. I promise to play nice.

  1. That picture is perfect to describe the female mood! LOL
And pretty much sums up today for me… because I am generally in a good mood because back to school has been quite smooth, but! – our weather system right now has given me a raging migraine. And my eldest passed his cold on to me. Ugh! This is one of those times where the spirit is rainbows, but due to circumstances: lightning can strike at any moment!! ha.

That on the go wifi is pretty cool! Thankfully my kids are bused, so I don’t have to deal with drop off and pick up, but there are many times I am waiting… waiting… waiting… and data charges sure add up quick!

    1. Both Princess Nagger and I cracked up when we saw that picture – absolutely a perfect personification of the female mood! LOL! I hate when the weather system instigates a migraine – so not fun!! So far I’ve been able to avoid catching a cold brought home by Little Dude from the Germ Factory (knock on wood!!) though I’d much rather get it over with early in the year than have it hit me right before Thanksgiving (which it has done in the past).

I wish we were in the bus zone for the kids! We are just barely within the 1-mile radius that puts us in the ‘Walk Zone’. But that radius is by way of the crow flying, and since my kids aren’t crows and can’t fly, it would be more than a mile of walking to get to the school. So now we get to be subjected to the damn car line. Our next house I’m going to make sure we’re far enough away to have them picked up and dropped off by bus like it was in PA – I got spoiled by the bus stop being right out in front of our house, all I had to do was hang out on my front porch! 🙂

I do love my Karma Go – I’ve barely made a dent in the data, which only proves I’d be crazy to have a bonafide data plan with my cell phone service. 🙂 They’re running a special for $50 off until the end of the month – if you click on the image above, it will give you another $10 off the purchase of the unit (another $15 gets you 1GB of data which is what I did and I finally, after 8 months of extended use, have used up that 1GB – I took advantage of a special they ran on data around the holidays last year, a BOGO of sorts for more data. They do offer specials quite often on refillable data). It’s not a monthly thing/charge (well, they do offer monthly options, but I don’t use enough monthly to warrant that option – I do the pay-as-you-go and haven’t used enough data to need to add more the 8 months I’ve had it so far), the data lasts forever (until you use it up, that is…heh!) Oh, and NO, this is not a sponsored post, and NO I’m not getting paid to sing their praises – I just love them so! 😀

  2. Our summer was nothing special either. Gout, truck wreck, work crises, tempers, yeah, I’ve had better summers. Looking forward to 2017, it’s got to be better!

  3. It’s funny where things sometimes turn up. We’re missing a couple items right now and I know when we finally find them, their hiding place will be completely baffling!

  4. Sometimes a particular summer is just like that, i hope next year is better. Also that you can catch up on your reading in the carpool line, if you want.

  5. I feel you on that car line! I really love having one kid driving these days because now he offers to pick up the other one and I can just stay tucked away in my work cube knowing my kids are getting home on their own and texting me ( when they remember) to let me know they are home.

It sounds like summer was just a bit of a blurb on on a map for most people this year. I do hope things improve leaving you with a better taste for 2016 in your mind.

    Take care my friend!
