First week of school for the kids are under our belts – Princess Nagger is so far enjoying the Virtual Academy, mostly because she doesn’t have to get up early and get wrangled out the door to go to school. She can just roll out of bed at a much later hour, and stumble downstairs to the computer we have set up specifically for her schooling.

Little Dude also had a great first week – here’s hoping he’s setting a trend for the rest of the year, and that the ‘honeymoon period’ will linger for an extended period of time. *fingers crossed*.

Meanwhile, it’s Monday, and Monday is always made better with music, don’t you think? This week is a freebie week, so feel free to grab your favorite tune(s) and dance along, won’t you?

Let’s start with one of my favorite country dudes with a rock’n’roll kinda song. The artist mixes this style with references or jokes that were too corny for radio in the past, but the song stays clear of caricatures. Drunk grandma? A reckless grandpa? These are characters we recognize.

This song definitely gives this artist a chance to work the stage like only he knows how. It’s also a sign that during this later stage of his career he isn’t giving up on a style that helped make it famous.

traceadkins

Get ready to dance, here’s the inimitable Trace Adkins with “Lit”:

Next up is a song I shared recently, but the artist uploaded the music video last week, so it’s worth sharing again. The real crux of the music video lies in the symbolism, with the lyrics:

“Don’t know where I am or how I got here / Well, the only thing that I know how to find / Is another vice”

The song was written at the exact time of the s–t hitting the fan, according to the artist, referring to her divorce in the summer of 2015. She’s quoted as saying:

“Sometimes when you’re going through something in your life, you may run to some things you shouldn’t and run from some things you shouldn’t. I think this song is an opportunity to just be honest and own it and say, ‘Yeah, I have some imperfections, and I live a life, and here and there I might get in a pickle.’ It’s not about one thing or another. Everybody has a vice they run to when they need comfort, and I think that’s what this song says.”

mirandalambert

Give a listen to the gorgeous and talented Miranda Lambert with “Vice”:

Next up is a brand new song from this talented pop artist. She gives us another classic dance floor anthem with a pulsating beat and lyrics you can’t help but sing along to, not to mention an octave change mid-song, this new tune is sure to find its way to the stop of your playlist.

The artist says the song is about “modern ecstasy” – the highest of highs and lowest of lows in a relationship gone wrong.

ladygaga

Without further ado, here’s Lady Gaga with “Perfect Illusion”:

Last, but definitely not least, is a parody song that I couldn’t resist sharing, considering that Little Dude has ADHD and ODD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiance Disorder), and for those who have it or knows someone who has it, will get a kick out of this video.

I had no idea that the dad of this fun family was diagnosed with A.D.D. while in college, and was quoted as saying:

“I hate that it’s called a disorder. There are so many things that people with ADD do well. We are great multitaskers. We have an energy that is often infectious. We are passionate, and spontaneous, and creative. We love to love, and to be loved.”

The video is a humorous take on his struggles with Attention Deficit Disorder, while also highlighting its special gifts, like spontaneity and multi-tasking skills.
