It’s time once again for some Friday fill-in fun, the perfect way to wrap up the week and kick off the weekend!

From Ann of McGuffy’s Reader:

“The Friendly Fill-Ins are four fun and easy statements to complete. Ellen of 15andmeowing provides the first two statements and the final two are offered by myself. We try to make sure they will be fun to both answer and share. On Friday, the linky will be posted at or about 12:00 AM. Please come back, link up, and share your thoughts!”

And away we go! Here are this week’s statements with my fill-ins:

Week 19: September 16, 2016

1. Something healthy I do daily is try to get my 10,000+ steps in daily. The hubby got me the newer FitBit HR Charge for my birthday last year, and I love it because it tracks steps, stairs, heartrate, miles walked, calories burned, sleep patterns, etc.:

2. Something unhealthy I do daily is drink Vanilla Coke.

Not diet, not Pepsi or regular Coke or anything else – just Vanilla Coke. I can’t do diet, because I’m allergic to any and all artificial sweeteners, which, in the grand scheme of things is a good thing since diet soda is way worse than regular. The hubby hates vanilla, so Vanilla Coke guarantees they won’t disappear willy nilly from the fridge.

On the road to better health, I’m slowly weaning myself off of it, though – I have to have my coffee in the morning, then drink Vanilla Coke in the afternoon. At least I’m down to only two-a-day, which is much better than the way-more-than-I-care-to-admit amount previously…heh.

3. This Summer… went by way too fast! So fast, that we only had a chance to camp on our favorite river in the mountains once. We’re going to plan ahead for next year, though, because camping by this river (click to see the larger image – I finally used my panorama option on my camera):

It’s so relaxing there! We’ve picked out which campsite will be the best one (with plenty of shade for the extra hot days) and are talking about camping for longer than two nights so all the work of setting up the campsite (and breaking it down at the end) will give us more days to actually kick back and relax. Probably not a full week, but definitely a few more days than just a weekend.

4. This Autumn… I’m looking forward to getting the front porch all decked out like I do each year. In PA I had easier access to hay bales and corn stalks (lots of local farms sold them in abundance), so this was my porch there:

This is what I came up with for our porch out here in Washington State:

That was the first fall in our new house (2014) – last year I changed it up a little bit, and added more stuff, but forgot to take pictures. I’ll be sure to take pictures when I get it done this year – typically I decorate the first weekend of October, and keep the decor up until Thanksgiving weekend when I switch it out to Christmas decor.

That’s one of the reasons we don’t carve the pumpkins – so they won’t be Halloween specific, but maybe we’ll do half-and-half so the kids can do some carving. Fall is my favorite season hands down, followed closely by Christmas.

And yes, I go to town on the Christmas decor – not quite Griswold-worthy, though. What’s your favorite season?

That’s a wrap! Hope you join in the fun! Check out the other Friendly Fill-Ins participants and join in if you feel the urge for some fun!

  1. My favorite season is winter. I prefer cold weather over hot and we’ve had way too much hot this year. Our heat index right now is 100 degrees according to my phone (101 according to David’s computer). I’d much rather have 10 degrees than 100!

Your porches are great. You did a fine job decorating them for fall at both houses.

I hope that you get to do as much camping next year as you want to. Have a great weekend!

  2. Stacy, I love placing autumn mums and pumpkins in front of our house. That’s about all the decorating I do. We don’t carve pumpkins anymore with the children all gone but that was one of our fall traditions. It was such great fun! I can’t believe the first day of autumn is next week. Our temps won’t feel like fall for quite some time yet. I think we’re still forecast for the low 90s for a high next week. *ugh*

  3. I love your fall decorations! I live for this time of year and the Christmas season. I’m so thankful summer is coming to a close…I just can’t stand the heat (and I live in Vermont!)

  4. I could not get into Fit-Bit, though I wish I could. It feels too confining, like I am letting it down.

Vanilla Coke is one pop that I actually kind of like!I never see it here, though. Along with water, I have developed a liking to coconut water, including variations of it. Oh, yum.

I love rivers, and wish we lived on one. I would really enjoy that! Great picture.

Your Autumn decorations are awesome! I like to use straw and cornstalks, too. There is plenty of both around here, with farms and horses still plentiful. I really enjoyed your pictures, Stacy. Thanks for sharing.

And, thanks for being a part of Friendly Fill-Ins. I really enjoy and appreciate your thoughts and pictures, as always. Sharing and getting to know each other is what this is all about. Have a great week! Hugs.

  5. Your porch decor is such fun! We are still sweltering, so i’m not feeling much into haystacks or pumpkins, even if the first of the large orange globes are in the stores as of this week.

  6. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I am impressed that you get your 10,000 steps a day in. Your porch at your old home and new home looks great. Have a nice weekend.

  7. Kudos to you for putting that FitBit to good use! You are right that any of the diet drinks are far more unhealthy – and dangerous – than just drinking the sugary stuff. Smiling at the Vanilla Coke option. 🙂 Your camping trips sound wonderful and peaceful… such a beautiful photograph! I love your Autumn decorating, it’s so fun and festive. I like this season, Christmas tends to get blown out by commercialism. Share new photos with us when you have it done!
