If we were still living in Pennsylvania, two things would be happening right about now. I’d be melting in the heat and humidity, and we’d be gearing up for the kids to head back to school next week.

But, since we’ve moved back to my home state of Washington, the kids still have another three weeks before school starts, which they are very happy about. The hubby starts his summer break later this week which will last until almost the end of September, so the next three weeks will involve no alarms to wake us up at the crack of dawn! Woot!

And the weather? It’s been beautiful. Some days it’s been topping out in the lower 90’s, but none of that icky sticky humidity to make the ‘feels like’ temperature be the hottest hinges of hell. Low 90’s here are a piece of cake, especially since the no humidity portion also means it cools down reasonably at night so it’s not a never-ending thing.

It’s been awhile since we’ve had rain, but not like last year when we were in a bonafide drought. No rain in the next 10 days, hence the warm temperatures. My condolences to those who are suffering in the heat Mother Nature has been throwing your way. You can always come cool off here!

My cat peeps will get a kick out of this:

CatFunnySomeone should create one about kitty roca for dogs. Ewwwwww! I know, right?!

This also cracked me up:

HidingPlace

Wish I had thought of that when I was still working long hours in Corporate America and kept having any goodies I kept at/in my desk pilfered. Seriously – no one’s going to open a box of tampons in someone’s desk. Or at least I hope not.

Are you watching the Olympics? I’m not, but it’s just never been my thing. I did, however, run across this amazing 2 year old who will no doubt be in the Olympics some day, or give Stephen Amell a run for his money on Arrow:

  1. Love the cat pic! We have a covered cat box to prevent the dogs from helping themselves to “kitty cookies”. Animals are so weird sometimes.
We have been having lovely temps here. Tops out at 80. Hits the 40s at night. Normal for us. Nick keeps hoping for a good thunderstorm though. He’s loves watching weather.

    1. We had a covered cat box before, but the dogs figured out how to snag some kitty cookies anyway. 🙂 Now we keep the litter boxes in the bathtub and block the doorway with a child gate. Next house will have a basement where the litter boxes can be more out of the way and not make taking a shower or bath extra work! 😉 Ooooh! One thing I do miss living on the other side of the mountain is the good thunderstorms – the hubby and I loved sitting on our porch watching them roll in! On very rare occasions do we see thunderstorms here. And fireflies – I miss seeing the fireflies light up the backyard. 🙂

  2. Stacy, I envy you not having to deal with humidity. All I can say is UGH! It’s awful this year. Every time we step outside to do anything it feels like we’ve stepped into a swimming pool and when were doing yard work then it’s hard to keep ourselves hydrated properly. I can’t wait for this to improve next month. Our school system started back last week and a few other systems in the southeast, but not enough to make a noticeable impact with tourism in the Smoky’s. The crowds are still thick. Go home already! Just kiddin’…or am I? 🙂 Well, I hope you guys have a good time with the hubs off for summer break. I totally understand how nice it is to sleep in, instead of hearing the annoying sound of an alarm clock. That’s one thing we don’t have to worry with too much while DH is out of work, but we’d love to have to complain about it, though. Have a good week!

    1. Trust me, I dealt with more than enough humidity living in Pennsylvania for 16 years – it’s so nice to be back ‘home’ where humidity is a myth and only shows up a couple times a year. 😉 The hubby (who grew up out East) keeps marveling at the no or low humidity here – now he understands why I had trouble acclimating to it out there! 🙂 I hated coming out the back door and feeling like you have a wet towel on your face, unable to breath deep, and it sure did make working out in the yard difficult! I will continue to keep you and your hubby in my thoughts and prayers – here’s hoping an awesome job opportunity comes along soon!!

  3. My older cat stalks me while I scoop the box and then no sooner than I have walked away is back in the box messing it up.

    Silly felines.

    1. YES! That’s the hubby’s main complaint – he gets the litter boxes all cleaned out, and no sooner does he leave the room than one of the cats is filling it back up again. 🙂

  4. Ha! You are funny. Your spider story was so…”me”. I have used Lysol, oven cleaner, whatever is on hand. It is a death match in my house. Outside, I just escape. Inside, oh, he77 no. I enjoyed your Febreze story. Thanks.
