Still moving in a fast pace through summer! Shhhh! No reminders of the end of summer looming in the offing, because I simply don’t want to hear it! Bet you don’t, either…heh!

It’s Monday (as if I had to remind you) and since we were off camping in the mountains all weekend long with no connection electronnically speaking, I feel like I’ve been gone for a month. Funny how that happens! I’ll be doing some catching up later, but meanwhile it’s time for some great music!

Let’s dive right in to today’s musical foray – the theme for this week was selected by our Secret Spotlight Dancer – I might have missed a memo, but we’ll find out who the ‘secret’ person is soon, I bet! Our SSD has chosen this week’s theme to be “SONGS with weather conditions (the word) in it”. And away we go!

Let’s start with a song that was this artist’s third chart-topper on the Hot 100. When this went to #1, this artist became the first British artist to have three chart-toppers from one album on the Hot 100 since George Michael in the late eighties.

Adele

Give a listen to the inimitable Adele with “Set Fire To The Rain”:

Next up is the third single from this British-Irish Pop boy band’s second studio album, about kissing someone and using lightning as a metaphor to describe your nerves and excitement as you kiss them.

TheWanted

Get ready to dance to The Wanted with “Lightning”:

Next up is a group that I love. This song is the title track of their fifth album, and compares a scorned woman to a force of nature, and features an ominous chorus in which the protagonist threatens to destroy the house that she shares with her wayward man.

LittleBigTown

Give a listen to Little Big Town with “Tornado”:

Last, but certainly not least, is one of my all time favorite country artists with a mid-tempo country rocker that finds him singing about a girl that he equates to a thunderstorm:

And I love her so much it hurts / I never meant to fall like this / But she don’t just rain, she pours / That girl right there’s the perfect storm

The video features the artist singing the ballad during a hurricane-like storm whilst photos of women slowly fly past the screen. Several weeks previously he had asked fans for photos of themselves or someone special in a T-shirt.

The fans obliged, sending in pictures of themselves or loved ones by the hundreds. Dozens of them wound up in the finished clip, which shows this artist and his bandmates performing the song in the middle of a rain shower, while hurricane winds blow an endless stream of 8×10 pictures past the camera. Genius.

BradPaisley

Fun Fact: Amongst those whose pictures were chosen were his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, whose photo appears in the clip. Paisley tweeted her at the time:

Congratulations @KimWilliamsPais Your dream has come true! You’re in my music video! Don’t scream

Without further ado, here’s Brad Paisley with “Perfect Storm”:

That’s a wrap for this week – have a great Monday!

Now on to the particulars of Monday’s Music Move’s Me:   PhotobucketI have the supreme honor and privilege of being a co-host with the inimitable Xmas Dolly and our musical cohorts, Callie from JAmericanSpice, and Cathy from Curious As A Cathy has graciously agreed to fill in during the month of July while our Naila Moon from Just the Stuff Ya Know is on vacation. Welcome back, Cathy, and have fun, Naila!

Want to join in the fun? It’s easy – just find a tune that rocks your boat, post it and link up – don’t forget to grab Xmas Dolly…er, um, I mean her button…over at her place here. Check out Xmas Dolly’s sidebar for the random themes we sport each week – and you can always ask for a specific theme of music you like, too. Check out the other music lovahs and let’s jam!

  1. Stacy, “Set Fire to the Rain” is my second favorite Adele song. Keep on dancin’ in the rain or sunshine and have a tunetastic week, my friend!

  2. Glad to see someone else is concerned about the extreme rate of speed that this summer is flying by at! Cool song choices as well. A shoutout to some of my favourite weather-related songs: November Rain by Guns n’ Roses, Only Happy When it Rains by Garbage, Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Guess I have rain on my mind since it hasn’t rained for quite a while here!

  3. Wow – who knew there were so many weather songs! I love the comparison of weather outside to our internal feelings; it’s such a great powerful image. Little Big Town is always so good.

  4. Everyone’s tunes I hear them and I say, “Wow, I should’ve thought of that one”! DUH! You’ve got fabulous choices here my friend! Smacked the forehead on Adelle’s tune for sure! bwahahha hugs and have a great rockin’ weekend! Sorry I’m so late.

  5. It’s good that you got to get away.
I took the kids on a day trip somewhere to have some water fun. They said they enjoyed it. It was an adventure.

    Welcome home eh.

    Love the music selections Stacy.
Hope you had a fun week!
    It’s raining here like mad!
